Mt. Washington Care Center – Long-Term Care Facility

Mt. Washington Care Center is seeking an experienced, strategic, and compassionate Director of Respiratory Therapy to lead and oversee all respiratory care services within our long-term care setting. This leadership role is responsible for clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, staff education, and the development of respiratory programs that support residents with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions.

The Director works collaboratively with nursing leadership, medical providers, and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality, evidence-based respiratory services that enhance resident outcomes and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical & Program Oversight

• Provide leadership and clinical oversight of all respiratory therapy services
• Establish, implement, and maintain respiratory care policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards
• Oversee assessment and monitoring of residents’ respiratory status
• Supervise administration of oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and aerosolized medications
• Ensure appropriate tracheostomy care, suctioning, and ventilator support as applicable
• Respond to and oversee management of respiratory-related emergencies

Leadership & Staff Development

• Develop staffing plans to meet facility needs
• Provide ongoing education and competency training for respiratory and nursing staff
• Foster a collaborative, resident-centered culture of care

Quality & Compliance

• Monitor documentation standards and clinical outcomes
• Lead quality improvement initiatives related to respiratory care
• Maintain equipment management processes and vendor relationships
• Participate in infection control, safety, and performance improvement committees

Communication & Collaboration

• Partner with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams
• Educate residents and families regarding respiratory conditions and treatment plans
• Serve as the respiratory clinical expert within the facility

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Current state RT license (RRT preferred)
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
• Minimum 3–5 years of clinical respiratory therapy experience
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Long-term care or skilled nursing experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory standards and quality improvement processes
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Schedule:

Full-Time (flexible scheduling based on facility needs)
