Director of Retail Operations & Purchasing
Location: Middle Tennessee / Multi-Location Travel Required (Tennessee, Kentucky, and Southwestern Virginia)
Performance Feeds is seeking a Director of Retail Operations & Purchasing to lead and support our growing network of feed, farm supply, and animal health locations.
This position combines strategic purchasing, inventory management, operational leadership, and team development into one role focused on driving consistency, profitability, and growth across multiple locations.
The Director will work closely with store managers, ownership, sales teams, and marketing to ensure every location has the products, processes, and support needed to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead purchasing and inventory strategy across all retail locations
- Manage product selection and inventory levels
- Implement and strengthen operational procedures and best practices
- Support and coach store managers across 10 retail locations
- Conduct regular store visits and manager meetings
- Monitor key performance indicators including sales, inventory turns, shrink, and profitability
- Improve inventory accuracy and reduce dead or outdated inventory
- Standardize merchandising, store layouts, and operational processes
- Collaborate with marketing to execute promotions, seasonal campaigns, and growth initiatives
- Assist in employee development, training programs, and leadership development
- Support expansion opportunities and long-term strategic planning

- Comfortable traveling between locations in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Southwestern Virginia and working directly with store teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Agriculture, livestock, animal health, feed, farm supply, agronomy, or related industry experience
- Multi-location retail, operations, purchasing, or management experience
- Experience leading teams and implementing operational systems
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree is beneficial but not required
- Equivalent industry experience will be strongly considered
