Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is the premier provider of emergency and scheduled ambulance services in Central and Western Illinois, as well as parts of Iowa. AMT is a private, not-for-profit organization operated for community benefit.

The Director of Revenue Cycle will provide leadership of the company’s revenue realization process, you will be responsible for applying the current regulatory principles and procedures to the oversight of the Patient Accounts Department. In this position you will provide supportive leadership, team principles, and direction to the Patient Accounts Team.

Job Duties:

  • Along with the Supervisors is responsible for the management and day-to-day operations of the Patient Accounts Department.
  • Ensure all revenue cycle processes and procedures are effective and efficient and in compliance will all legal and regulatory regulations.
  • Responsible for communication and coordination of revenue cycle functions between various departments including communications/dispatch, operations, finance, compliance, human resources, and IT.
  • Responsible for staffing related processes that include interview/selection and offer of employment, employment transfer, promotion, demotion, discipline, and separation.
  • Participate in reporting to internal and external customers regarding multiple aspects of the patient accounts’ billing/collection processes and results.
  • Responsible for monitoring and overseeing claim collections and identifying payer trends to optimize cash collections.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Team regarding current and projected cash flow from the month-to-date cash collections.
  • Monitor and provide appropriate feedback for the Manager of Revenue Cycle and other staff concerning QA findings, trends, and training requirements.
  • Responsible for establishing clearly defined goals, deadlines, and expectations for each team member. Provide oversight to ensure accountability and address performance issues as they arise.
  • Conducts regular meetings with team to address process changes, organizational issues, and departmental matters.
  • Monitors staff productivity and quality through internal performance systems; provides appropriate feedback, coaching, and corrective action where appropriate.
  • Promotes and provides a safe working environment for all staff members. Conducts
  • himself/herself as a role model regarding company safety policies and practices.
  • Responsible for coordinating, developing, and implementing Patient Accounts Department training that is focused on the current and ever-changing Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations.
  • Collaborates with state and other ambulance associations to stay current on future changes impacting billing and reimbursement for AMT operations.
  • Responsible for all State (Medicaid) and Federal (Medicare) enrollments and revalidations for all AMT related entities.
  • Responsible for access to all internal patient accounts systems and third-party system access (i.e., hospital patient care record systems).
  • Ensures that the Patient Accounts SOP manual is periodically reviewed and updated

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within ambulance billing or closely related healthcare field. NAAC certification preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Knowledge of private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid billing procedures. Knowledge of sources of information to verify insurance coverage, personal earnings and assets, and debtor’s ability to meet obligation.
  • Sound administrative skills. Well-developed management skills and principles.
  • Knowledge of healthcare billing practices, automated billing and accounting systems, and collection laws, regulations and techniques.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, superiors, and others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
