SUPERVISES: Safety and Security Staff

MISSION STATEMENT:

To provide a Safe and Secure environment for all members, guests, employees, and all club property.

Safety and Security Team Focus:

The Security Director's responsibility is all-inclusive in the maintenance and operation of a professional and effective Security and Safety Team, yet flexible enough that the membership may enjoy the Club without fear of disruption or intimidation. The Team should work seamlessly with other departments as an extension of the overall club service focus.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for the security of the physical assets, employees, members and their guests of the Club including the clubhouse, wellness center, parking lot, golf course, turf maintenance facility, indoor/outdoor tennis facilities, pool complex, springhouse, and golf instruction house.
  • Maintain a high level of professional service and communication with management and the membership while providing outstanding safety and security.
  • Supervise and direct the assigned security staff.
  • Strategically develop and direct policies, guidelines, and programs to promote a safe and secure environment for members, guests, employees, and the protection of club assets.
  • Implement strategies and emergency procedures to improve safety and security including but not limited to, access control systems, cameras, panic alert systems, patrol operations, internal investigations, investigating workplace incidents, and disaster preparedness.
  • Work with the Controller to create an annual budget for the department.
  • Review the monthly financial reports and report on variances of actual to budget.
  • Responsible for the management of safety programs to include all required aspects of OSHA regulations and the coordination of training for other department personnel.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Maintain a professional relationship with management, staff, members, guests, Belle Meade Police, and the Metro Fire Department.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Club policies and guidelines as outlined in the Club History & Traditions and Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain a good knowledge and understanding of current state, city, and county laws.
  • Supervise and maintain a qualified and efficient staff. Recommend employment, promotion, transfer, salary adjustments as appropriate and termination in accordance with Club procedures. Maintain up-to-date Organizational Chart, Position Description and compliance of pertinent/training licenses.
  • Ensure security staff training is a priority and standards are upheld throughout the department.
  • Be visible and approachable.
  • Oversee Club Employee Safety and Sustainability Committee and attend the Safety, Security and Reception Committee meetings along with other committee meetings as necessary.
  • Plan and execute annual first aid and CPR classes for all staff. Re-certify these personnel as required by industry standards.
  • Attend weekly management team meetings, conduct staff meetings, and attend a weekly one on one meeting with the General Manager/COO.
  • Keep General Manager/COO informed of work progress and problems in a timely manner.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned by the General Manager/COO.
  • Plan work or organization on an annual, monthly, and weekly basis and execute such plans effectively, monitoring progress as appropriate.
  • Prepare and submit a written report to the Board of Directors for their regular monthly meeting. The report is to include, but not limited to such matters as:
  • A review of the prior month’s important activities.
  • Personnel requirements and structure.
  • Physical security needs or problems.
  • Equipment needs or problems.
  • Recommendations on or steps already taken on the above.
  • Establish and maintain regular cleaning and maintenance schedules for all security areas and equipment.
  • Work with 3rd party company to ensure alarm system is monitored.
  • Work with 3rd party company to ensure surveillance camera system is up to date and operating efficiently.
  • Ensure a superior response time to all emergencies (accident, injury, medical, human intruder, animal intruder, alarms, etc.) Make suggestions to restrict unauthorized entry.
  • Work with the Controller to manage an up to date and accurate census of the members and their families. Also, work with other managers to populate club systems with photos of employees, members, and member family members.
  • Suggest improvements to the access onto club property and into the clubhouse.
  • Conduct risk assessments throughout club property to include lighting, security, gate control, bar code access control, threat assessment, vulnerability studies, impact analysis, and countermeasures selection.
  • Initiate and manage security investigations and receive verbal and written reports from subordinates taking any follow up actions needed. Use this information to compile comprehensive security reports for the General Manager/COO.
  • Work with other managers to implement and oversee portable radio communications.
  • Study informative and pertinent Security periodicals and attend related education as is appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of current technical developments related to safety and security and utilize or recommend improvements as appropriate.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

· Two years Criminal Justice and related studies while in the military or four-year degree including related studies from an accredited college. (Equivalent experience will be considered)

Experience

  • Three years Public Safety or Commissioned Military Officer experience.
  • At least three years’ experience in a related Supervisory and Administrative position.
  • Broad general experience in working with people and the public.
  • Successful experience as head or second in command of a security operation.
  • Other
  • Appropriate personal appearance and mannerisms.
  • Demonstrated management and communication skills.
  • Complete knowledge of or ability to learn and understand state, city, and country laws.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • No criminal record.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and/or overtime if needed.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must work well with others as a team and help co-workers when needed.
  • Must always be courteous and tactful.
  • Must perform other duties as requested or required.

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
