Full Job Description – Director of Sales
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Sales to lead the sales and marketing efforts of the hotel. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to achieve revenue and room night goals, setting effective sales and marketing plans, and ensuring consistent performance results.
Responsibilities
· Direct the day-to-day activities of the sales team; plan, organize, and assign work; communicate strategies and goals; and ensure staff follow established policies and procedures.
· Create and implement hotel-level tactical sales plans to increase occupancy, drive average daily rate (ADR), generate incremental business during off-peak periods, and enhance the hotel’s market presence.
· Recommend or initiate staffing actions—including hiring, promotions, salary adjustments, and disciplinary actions—in accordance with company policies.
· Build, train, and motivate a high-performing sales team responsible for developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and executing sales strategies to achieve revenue goals and maximize profitability while ensuring guest satisfaction.
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients to drive group and convention business—including room sales, F&B revenue, and banquet/catering services.
· Conduct regular direct sales efforts, including client visits, presentations, and site tours.
· Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/team sales goals across all business segments. Assist in preparing the annual departmental budget, sales and marketing plans, and financial forecasts.
· Produce monthly sales reports and accurate forecasts.
· Identify operational issues affecting sales performance and collaborate with department heads to develop solutions.
· Monitor sales activities to ensure performance meets or exceeds established revenue targets.
· Analyze current and potential market trends to increase revenue and market share through strategic business development.
· Schedule and coordinate group business and conventions with relevant departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
· Build strong relationships with local business leaders, community organizations, and industry partners. Attend trade shows, conventions, and sales missions to promote the hotel and generate new business.
· Act as the hotel's media representative in coordination with the General Manager. Refer sensitive matters to Corporate Public Relations when necessary.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Hospitality, or a related field.
· 2–4 years of experience in hotel or hospitality sales, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
· Fluent in English; additional languages preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Frequent standing, walking, or moving throughout the property and off-site.
· Ability to lift or carry items up to 25 pounds.
· Frequent handling of materials, documents, and equipment.
Other Requirements
· Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with guests, employees, and external partners.
· Strong reading and writing skills for reports, instructions, and documentation.
· Solid mathematical and financial skills, including budgeting, forecasting, profit/loss analysis, and variance interpretation.
· Strong problem-solving, reasoning, organizational, motivational, and training abilities.
· Ability to travel for workshops, trade shows, conventions, and sales missions.
· Valid Driver’s License may be required.
· Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands.
