A respected Arizona-based nonprofit serving 100+ school districts statewide is seeking a Director of Legal & Policy Services to lead school law, policy development, and governance support. What You’ll Do
Monitor Arizona and federal education law, regulations, case law, and Attorney General opinions impacting school districts
Develop, update, and maintain compliance-driven model policies and governance guidance for school boards
Advise leadership on legal, regulatory, and policy issues affecting K-12 education
Support legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts related to public education
Provide training, webinars, and guidance to school board members and district leaders
Manage and mentor staff within the legal and policy services function
Oversee legal compliance, contracts, and organizational governance matters
Coordinate with external school attorneys, education partners, and statewide stakeholders
Required Experience and Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Admission to the Arizona Bar or ability to obtain promptly
Minimum 3 years of school law experience, including work with school districts, charter schools, or education organizations
Minimum 2 years of management experience in a legal department, policy group, or comparable leadership role
Strong understanding of Arizona education law, including Title 15 and school governance requirements
Experience advising boards, executives, or public entities
Excellent research, writing, and presentation skills
Preferred Experience
Experience working with or advising multiple school districts
Background in education policy, regulatory compliance, or government relations
Nonprofit, public sector, or association experience
Pay and Benefits
Annual salary of $150,000–$160,000
