About the Role:

We are seeking a highly analytical, operationally minded Director of Strategic Finance & M&A to help lead and scale the finance organization of a fast-growing, private equity-backed media business. This individual will play a critical role across the company’s core FP&A and strategic finance activities, partnering closely with executive leadership, operational teams, lenders, and financial sponsors to drive performance, planning, and decision-making. New Tradition is a rapid growth and integration platform with constantly evolving operational dynamics that require sophisticated financial planning and analytical rigor.

The role combines traditional FP&A leadership with broader strategic finance responsibilities, including cash flow management, lender reporting, board material preparation, operational modeling, long-range planning, and M&A support. The ideal candidate brings strong financial rigor, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex operational and financial data into actionable insights for leadership and investors.

This role reports to the VP of Strategy and Finance with a dotted line to the CFO and partners regularly with the executive leadership team, Board of Directors, and private equity sponsors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and optimize the company’s monthly financial reporting process, including executive-level reporting packages, variance analysis, and business performance insights
• Manage the annual budgeting process end-to-end, partnering cross-functionally with department leaders to develop, consolidate, and present operating plans
• Own the company’s 13-week cash flow forecasting process, including liquidity planning and financing strategy support in partnership with leadership and sponsors
• Maintain and enhance the company’s operating model, incorporating new assets, lease changes, and evolving business assumptions
• Lead monthly and quarterly expense reviews and variance analysis across departments and business units
• Drive lender reporting processes and engagement, including quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc deliverables for financing partners and stakeholders
• Lead development and maintenance of the company’s long-range financial plan, including modeling, strategic analysis, and presentation materials
• Support M&A activities including financial modeling, diligence support, integration planning, scenario analysis, and capital allocation decisions
• Develop board materials and related financial analyses, including recurring presentations and special projects requested by the Board or financial sponsors
• Partner with revenue operations and sales leadership on pricing strategy, deal structuring, margin analysis, and compensation program evaluation and management
• Build and improve scalable reporting, KPI tracking, and analytical infrastructure across the business
• Drive continuous improvement in financial planning processes, systems, and reporting capabilities through technology and automation initiatives
• As both an individual contributor and manager, the Director of Strategic Finance & M&A will manage and develop associates and affiliated talent.

• Excellent project management and process management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously
• Strong strategic thinking combined with hands-on analytical execution
• Exceptional financial modeling, forecasting, and quantitative analysis capabilities
• Experience supporting revenue operations and direct sales organizations
• Strong business acumen with the ability to connect operational performance to financial outcomes
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into clear insights and actionable recommendations for executive stakeholders
• Experience building and refining KPI reporting frameworks and transitioning organizations from manual Excel-driven reporting toward more scalable, technology-enabled solutions
• Excellent communication and executive presentation skills, particularly in high-visibility environments involving lenders, boards, and private equity sponsors
• High level of ownership, accountability, and intellectual curiosity
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments with changing priorities and ambitious growth objectives
• Collaborative, relationship-oriented approach with the ability to influence across functions and levels of the organization

Background and Qualifications:

• 7–10+ years of relevant experience across FP&A, strategic finance, investment banking, transaction services, consulting, or related finance disciplines
• Prior experience within an operating company finance or FP&A function required. Ideal experience includes high-growth businesses including those within media, advertising, technology and other dynamic, revenue growth-oriented platforms.
• Experience operating within a private equity-backed or sponsor-owned environment strongly preferred
• Proven experience leading budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and strategic finance initiatives in complex organizations
• Advanced financial modeling and Excel skills required; strong systems and data orientation preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets and financial systems to drive reporting and operational insights
• Experience with BI, FP&A, and reporting tools such as NetSuite, Adaptive, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms preferred
• Emerging experience leveraging generative AI tool sets and platforms a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; MBA and/or CPA a plus
• Track record of thriving in entrepreneurial, high-accountability environments with strong growth orientation and executive visibility

All of our full-time roles in New York are based at our headquarters in Union Square, where our whole team thrives on in-person collaboration in the office Monday through Thursday of each week (Friday work remote). Onsite collaboration for the majority of our workweek enables us to build strong connections, collaborate effectively to solve challenges, and foster an engaging environment. In our New York City HQ, you’ll work alongside the senior leadership team, including our founders.

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary for this role is $160,000-$180,000 with opportunities for further upside (bonus) tied directly to your output. When determining compensation, we consider job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
