The Director of Strategic Sourcing is a leadership role responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies for Borusan Pipe US. This role has full accountability for steel coil procurement, MRO and non-MRO spend, ensuring uninterrupted production, optimized working capital, cost competitiveness, and supplier risk mitigation.
The role partners closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Finance, Engineering, and Corporate Procurement to align local execution with global sourcing strategies while maintaining compliance with U.S. regulations and corporate governance standards. This role reports into the Sr. VP, Supply Chain or as assigned.
Working Conditions
Working conditions are of a professional office environment. Administrative personnel may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats.
1.1 Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
1.2 10+ years of progressive purchasing or supply chain experience within steel, spare parts, direct &indirect materials in heavy manufacturing, or industrial environments.
1.3 Proven Experience With
1.3.1 Steel coil or any direct material procurement
1.3.2 MRO purchasing and inventory management
1.3.3 Supplier negotiations and contract management
1.4 Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and maintenance-driven supply requirements.
1.5 Preferred experience working in a global or multinational organization.
1.6 Preferred MBA Or Master’s Degree.
1.7 Preferred experience with SAP ERP/MRP systems or similar.
1.8 Preferred knowledge of steel market dynamics, pricing indices, and logistics (rail, barge, truck, vessel).
1.9 Preferred Prior Leadership Of Materials Management Functions.
1.10 Professional certifications (CSCP, CPSM) are a plus.
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
2.1 Develop And Execute Purchasing Strategies For
2.1.1 Steel coil, other direct material like coupling procurement (domestic and international mills)
2.1.2 MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) materials
2.1.3 Non-MRO indirect spending (services, consumables, logistics-related purchases)
2.2 Lead steel coil contract negotiations, index-based pricing, volume commitments, hedging strategies (as applicable), and supplier diversification to mitigate market volatility.
2.3 Collaborate with global corporate procurement to align sourcing strategies, preferred suppliers.
2.4 Establish multi-year sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, delivery, and geopolitical risk.
2.5 Work with warehouse functions and maintenance/operations functions to ensure:
2.5.1 Inventory control and accuracy
2.5.2 MRO availability and service levels
2.5.3 Inventory turns, slow-moving and obsolete stock reduction
2.5.4 Optimal stocking levels that support production uptime while minimizing working capital.
MRO & Non-MRO Spend Management
2.6 Standardize MRO catalogs, suppliers, and pricing to reduce fragmentation and off-contract spending.
2.7 Drive cost reduction initiatives through supplier consolidation, demand management, and specification standardization.
2.8 Implement purchasing controls and approval workflows for non-MRO spend.
2.9 Track and report savings, cost avoidance, and budget adherence.
Supplier Management & Risk Mitigation
2.10 Lead supplier qualification, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
2.11 Establish KPIs for quality, delivery, cost, safety, and service.
2.12 Manage supplier risk related to capacity, financial stability, geopolitical exposure, and logistics disruptions.
2.13 Resolve escalated supplier performance or contractual issues.

2.16 Support CAPEX purchasing activities in coordination with Engineering and Finance.
2.17 Build, lead, and develop a high-performing purchasing, warehouse, and materials management team
