Job Overview
The Director of Supply Chain – US Operations will lead all US supply chain activities for the organization. This critical leadership role is responsible for overseeing warehousing, distribution, logistics, inventory management, and shipping while driving post-acquisition integration, operational excellence, cost optimization, and regulatory compliance. The Director will ensure uninterrupted supply of life-critical medical devices to hospitals, clinicians, and patients across the United States while positioning the combined business for scalable, resilient growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • US Network Optimization - Own end-to-end US supply chain execution, including multiple warehouses, distribution centers, inbound/outbound shipping, and 3PL partnerships. Continuously improve network design for cost, speed, and service.
  • Inventory & Demand Management - Oversee inventory strategy, demand forecasting, S&OP processes, and working-capital optimization. Achieve target inventory turns and service levels while minimizing obsolescence and stock-outs.
  • Logistics & Distribution - Manage all domestic and import/export shipping activities, freight spend, carrier relationships, and last-mile delivery performance to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Compliance & Quality - Ensure full compliance with FDA, cGMP, ISO 13485, and other medical-device regulatory requirements. Maintain robust quality systems, traceability, and cold-chain capabilities where required.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management - Partner with global procurement teams on dual-sourcing strategies, supplier scorecards, and risk mitigation (geopolitical, raw-material volatility, single-source dependencies).
  • Technology & Continuous Improvement - Champion the adoption and optimization of ERP (SAP preferred), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and analytics/dashboards. Drive Lean/Six Sigma and automation initiatives.
  • Leadership & Team Development - Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing US supply chain team (warehousing, planning, logistics, and customer service functions). Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and innovation.
  • Performance Management - Define and track KPIs including on-time in-full (OTIF) delivery, cost-per-unit, inventory accuracy, freight spend as % of sales, and perfect-order rate. Deliver measurable year-over-year improvements.
  • Risk & Business Continuity - Develop and maintain robust business continuity plans, including scenario planning for supply disruptions, natural disasters, or regulatory changes.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, related field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience in manufacturing or distribution environments.
  • Experience leading multi-site supply chain or distribution operations
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale integration or transformation projects (post-M&A experience is a plus).
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP highly preferred) and modern supply chain technologies.
  • Preferred:
  • APICS (CSCP/CPIM), ISM (CPSM), or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Experience managing both high-volume consumables and complex capital medical device supply chains.
  • Experience operating in a regulated or quality-sensitive environment preferred (medical device is a plus)
  • Familiarity with temperature-controlled and hazardous goods shipping.
