Director – Oil & Gas

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director – Oil & Gas to lead operations, business development, and project execution across upstream, midstream, and/or downstream activities. The Director will oversee commercial performance, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder management while driving growth and profitability in a dynamic energy environment.

This role requires a strong leader with deep industry expertise, proven operational management experience, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in complex energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee oil & gas operations, projects, and commercial activities.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans aligned with company objectives.
  • Manage operational performance, budgets, forecasting, and profitability targets.
  • Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international industry regulations, HSE standards, and corporate policies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead contract negotiations, vendor management, and commercial agreements.
  • Monitor market trends, energy pricing, and competitive landscape to support strategic decisions.
  • Drive operational efficiency, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop senior management teams and technical personnel.
  • Oversee project execution to ensure timelines, budgets, and quality standards are achieved.
  • Prepare executive reports and present operational and financial performance to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Energy Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of upstream, midstream, and downstream operations.
  • Proven track record in operations management, project leadership, and business development.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing large-scale budgets and P&L.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Deep knowledge of HSE regulations and industry compliance standards.
  • Ability to lead high-performing teams in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Pay: QAR288.00 - QAR462.00 per hour
