About the Role:

This is the most senior People Partner in our Los Angeles office, collaborating directly with executives across IMAX’s Entertainment business. You’ll work closely with leaders to design and build strong teams, develop high-performing talent, and ensure the organization is set up to deliver on its strategy.

This role is both strategic and hands-on. You’ll help leaders think through how to structure their teams, plan for future talent needs, and build the leadership depth required to scale the business, while also driving day-to-day execution across the employee lifecycle. You’ll also play a key role in shaping the employee experience and ensuring our people practices support a high-performing, creative environment.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Partnership

  • Serve as the primary People partner to IMAX’s Entertainment division, supporting senior leaders including the Chief Content Officer, CMO, and heads of Distribution and Post Production

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with leaders and teams to support the delivery of their vision and business strategy

  • Translate business priorities into clear, practical people plans that drive performance and growth

  • Advise leaders on team structure, talent decisions, and organizational effectiveness to support both immediate needs and long-term success

  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on hiring, performance, team effectiveness, and employee engagement

  • Work closely with internal partners to design and deliver initiatives across talent, development, compensation, and organizational change

  • Develop a deep understanding of the business and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen teams and improve outcomes

  • Contribute to efforts that foster an inclusive, high-performing, and engaged work environment

Talent & Organization

  • Partner with leaders to build strong teams by assessing, developing, and retaining talent

  • Lead key processes such as performance reviews, compensation planning, and talent assessments

  • Work closely with internal partners to design and deliver effective approaches across hiring, development, and rewards

  • Provide clear guidance on compensation decisions in line with company philosophy

  • Advise and partner with leaders on organizational changes, offering thoughtful insight on team design and guiding effective transition planning

  • Ensure company-wide people programs are implemented effectively and tailored to the needs of the Entertainment business

Culture & Employee Experience

  • Champion and bring to life IMAX’s core values, helping to build a connected, engaged, and high-performing workplace

  • Build strong relationships across the organization to understand employee sentiment and identify opportunities to improve engagement and morale

  • Partner with internal teams to design and deliver initiatives and events that strengthen culture and employee connection

  • Work with Talent Development to gather employee feedback and translate insights into meaningful actions that improve the employee experience

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Partner with leaders at all levels to build and reinforce a strong leadership and coaching culture

  • Provide practical, sound guidance on employee relations matters, including investigating and resolving issues with discretion and good judgment

  • Support leaders in managing conflict and addressing concerns in a timely, constructive way

  • Guide leaders through complex situations while maintaining a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment

  • Ensure consistent adherence to the company’s Code of Conduct, policies, and applicable employment laws

  • Advise on employment-related regulations and mitigate risk through sound, compliant practices

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in an HR/People Business Partner role, ideally in a global or matrixed organization

  • Experience working with senior leaders in creative, media, or fast-paced environments

  • Strong business judgment and the ability to connect people strategy to business outcomes

  • Proven ability to coach and influence leaders at all levels

  • Experience with organizational design, talent planning, and leadership development

  • Experience contributing to the design and delivering programs across areas such as inclusion, culture, talent development, talent acquisition, and total rewards

  • A hands-on approach — comfortable moving between strategy and execution

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly

  • Experience working across international teams is a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree required; HR certification (e.g., PHR) is a plus

Hiring Range :

$117,528.00 - $167,899.00 (per year) Final pay within this range will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, and the geographic location of the role. Additional non-discretionary compensation may apply where eligible.
