Location: Virginia Beach, VA (on-site)
Department: Engineering
Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:15 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. (ET)
Clinical Status: Non-Clinical

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT

The Director, Process Engineering manages and directs designing, developing and implementing new processes, process improvements and equipment improvements into Production and Logistics. Ensures execution of all qualifications and validations in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. Provides leadership and mentoring to the Engineering staff. Works with the VP, Production and Logistics, Directors and Quality Systems to ensure production operations are in compliance with the FDA, ISO and AATB regulations. Directs implementation of lean practices within Production Operations. Partners with VP for budget preparation and administration.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provides department leadership to Tissue Engineering (TE) by leading, guiding and directing employees to be effective team members. Ensures that everyone is equipped with the right skills, tools, and talents necessary for executing their duties. Using the established people processes (performance, development, succession, and career) to ensure that the Tissue Engineering team’s level of performance and capabilities meet current and future standards.
  • Leads teams to execute transfer of new processes and products from Product Development to Production and Logistics, to include ensuring effective technical training of production staff. Develops and executes process validation protocols in accordance with generally accepted regulatory principles.
  • Directs continuous improvement projects to improve organizational performance. Troubleshoots complaints and/or production concerns and leads corrective action.
  • Directs Engineering Managers and Engineers in the planning and execution of projects to ensure achievement of LifeNet Health’s Goals and Objectives.
  • Develops departmental goals and objectives and annual budgets (operational and capital) that support corporate strategic goals and objectives. Monitors monthly financial performance indicators, investigates variances, and recommends or adjusts operations using Lean techniques.
  • Serves on new product development and design control teams to ensure proper validation, qualification, and compliance requirements are assessed and met. Makes recommendations for improvements in product specifications.
  • Develops and implements standards and processes to ensure that quality, cost, efficiency, and regulatory requirements are met.


WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification: PMP Certification to be obtained within two (2) years of position start
  • Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) Certification: CTBS Certification (must be obtained within two (2) years of employment and maintained throughout employment
  • Seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience managing and leading others
  • Ten (10) years leading and/ or managing continuous improvement with new production projects in a medical device, tissue processing, or related industry


Preferred Experience/Skills/Certifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Current PMP Certification
  • Current CTBS Certification
  • Ten (10) years of direct management and leadership of others
  • Fifteen (15) years of related experience in a medical device, tissue processing, or related industry
  • Computer Skills: SharePoint

  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic planning and interfacing throughout the product lifecycle especially for complex or critical products. Impact of regulatory changes on internal processes and products. Clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between TE and business strategy.
  • People Development: Actively engages in talent management practices (selection, promotion, development and engagement) to cultivate a workforce that is well aligned with current and emerging talent needs.
  • Relationship Management: Builds and sustains partnerships across organizational boundaries and functions as well as outside of the organization to achieve common goals and outcomes.
  • Communication Skills: Written, verbal, and presentation; ability to engage, inspire, and influence people.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Lean Management: Extensive continuous improvement experience utilizing Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Time Management: Ability to use time in an effective and productive manner with ability to work under pressure with tight timelines, make critical decisions and maintain a sense of focus and urgency.

COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $152,547 to $203,396 annually

Final compensation will be based on factors such as geographic location, qualifications, and prior relevant experience. The pay range for this position is $152,547 annually (entry level qualifications) to $203,396 annually (experienced in this role). Actual compensation may be higher based on the successful candidate’s knowledge and relevant experience.
