Director, Product and Sales Enablement

The Corporate Director of Branded Solutions will lead the strategy, development, and execution of revenue growth plans for the company’s portfolio of owned and operated branded advertising products. This full-time, exempt, position is responsible for driving innovation and revenue across a robust suite of branded solutions — including display advertising (digital and print), audio and video advertising, branded content, email marketing, content sponsorships, special sections, social sponsorships, contests, and promotions focused on lead generation.

This role will help oversee and support a dedicated branded solutions sales team, while also partnering closely with the Agency Solutions Team, whose focus is on third party media and platforms. The Director will work to ensure the agency’s account managers and traffic teams are equipped to identify upsell opportunities for the company’s owned and operated products, creating a cohesive approach that maximizes total revenue potential.

Additionally, this position will coordinate with the Events and Marketing Leadership to leverage event sponsorships and branded opportunities that strengthen the company’s integrated advertising offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute a clear strategy to grow revenue for the company’s owned and operated branded advertising products across all platforms.
  • Analyze market trends and audience insights to inform new product development, packaging, and positioning.
  • Establish annual revenue goals and performance metrics for the branded solutions portfolio; monitor and adjust strategies as needed to ensure targets are met or exceeded.

Sales Team Oversight & Enablement

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for the dedicated branded solutions sales team, including setting objectives, coaching, and performance management.
  • Ensure the branded solutions sales team has the training, tools, and support to sell a complex mix of display, audio/video, content, and sponsorship solutions effectively.
  • Partner with the Agency Solutions Team to develop frameworks, collateral, and training that enable agency account managers and traffic resources to upsell owned and operated products as part of integrated campaigns.

Product Innovation & Management

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of branded advertising products — from ideation and packaging to sales support and post-campaign analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance or expand product offerings, including audience-based solutions, branded content series, contests, promotions, and new sponsorship packages.
  • Collaborate with editorial, production, and marketing teams to maintain brand integrity and deliver high-quality, engaging content that meets advertiser goals.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Serve as the central connection point between the branded solutions sales team, agency sales organization, local market sales leaders, and other relevant departments.
  • Work with the Local Events and Marketing Leadership to integrate event sponsorships and branded content opportunities into holistic advertising packages.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, sharing success stories, and encouraging cross-selling to drive incremental revenue.

Client & Market Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with key clients, understanding their evolving needs and ensuring the company’s branded products deliver measurable ROI.
  • Represent the company’s branded solutions portfolio at industry events, client meetings, and other strategic forums.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in branded content, sponsorships, and audience engagement across print, digital, social, audio, and video channels.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in advertising sales, branded content, or revenue strategy — ideally with direct experience leading a sales team focused on owned media products.
  • Strong understanding of how agency sales teams can complement owned and operated sales by upselling integrated solutions.
  • Demonstrated success developing branded advertising strategies that drive sustained revenue growth.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Highly collaborative mindset with strong relationship-building abilities across departments and client organizations.
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with print and digital advertising technologies, content production processes, and performance measurement tools.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) or equivalent senior executive.
Works closely with the Director of Agency Solutions, the Director of Local Events, local market sales leaders, and editorial/production teams.

Location & Travel:

Corporate-level role; periodic travel required to support local sales teams, key client meetings, and industry events.
