Position Summary


The Director of Residential Services is a key senior leadership position responsible for the clinical, operational, and administrative oversight of residential behavioral health programs. This role ensures that individuals served receive the appropriate level of residential care, delivered with excellence, safety, and efficiency.


The Director of Residential Services ensures programsoperatein full compliance with regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements; adhere toestablishedbudgets; and remain aligned with the organization’s mission and Core Values. The position provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure effective coordination of residential services across the continuum of care, supportingtimelyadmissions, transitions, and discharge planning.


The Directormaintainsboth clinical and administrative integrity of residential programs, oversees patient flow and capacity management, and serves as a primary liaison with internal partners, external providers, and state behavioral health agencies.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Master’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, or a related mental health fieldrequired; Ph. D or Psy D preferred


  • Licensure through the State of Maine Board of Nursing, Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or Psychologyrequired


  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management and leadership experience overseeing residential, mental health, and/or substance use services


  • Strong knowledge of residential behavioral health programming,utilizationmanagement, and managed care requirements


  • Demonstratedexpertisein clinical operations, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement


  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, community partners, and statewide behavioral health systems


  • Excellent judgment,decisionmaking, andproblemsolvingskills


  • Ability to think strategically, analytically, and creatively in planning, organizing, and coordinating complex residential service systems
