About the Role
As a
Director - Trading
, you will play a key leadership role on the investment team. Reporting to the Director of Portfolio Management, you will oversee daily trading operations, manage junior traders, and support portfolio implementation across the firm. This role blends hands-on trading with team leadership and process improvement.
Responsibilities

Directly manage and mentor the traders, including performance oversight, training, workflow coordination, and professional development.

Execute stock, bond, cash, options, mutual fund, and ETF trades across client portfolios.

Lead daily trading operations, including task allocation, prioritization, and quality control.

Oversee the firm’s trading queue to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant execution.

Execute and oversee complex transactions, including portfolio rebalances, low-liquidity trades, firmwide model trades, tax-loss harvesting, IPOs, optimizations, and Treasury auctions.

Develop and maintain trade audit processes and ensure adherence to compliance standards.

Partner with Portfolio Managers and advisors to align trading activity and model management with client objectives, portfolio strategy, and financial planning considerations.

Support tax-efficient portfolio implementation using Orion Astro.

Supervise and manage trading practices and compliance of the firm’s reinsurance accounts.

Lead administration of trading system settings, including restrictions, exclusions, cash parameters, wash sales, and capital gains budgets.

Oversee and manage firmwide trading workflows, including systematic cash-raising, liquidity planning, and funding of portfolio needs.

Oversee trading workflows across all custodians, including DVP accounts.

Lead the investigation, resolution, and documentation of trade corrections, settlement issues, and execution errors, ensuring timely remediation and process improvement.

Drive continuous improvement of trading processes, documentation, and controls.
Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in investment management, preferably within a wealth management of asset management firm.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in trading securities.

Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field

Professional certifications (working toward CFA, Series 65, etc.) are a plus

Excellent written and oral communication skills

General knowledge of financial markets, investment vehicles, and portfolio management principles.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Compliance-oriented mindset with a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements.

Comfortable working independently.

Salary range for this role: $135,000 - $170,000
