Position Summary: Serves as the primary point of contact, assisting the Client in developing a recovery plan and in coordinating necessary services and resources to address the Client’s complex disaster recovery needs in order to re-establish normalcy.

Essential Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential responsibilities listed below:

● Reaches out to clients assigned to them to schedule screening and intake

● Performs assessment and verification of disaster recovery needs

● Helps clients create a Recovery Plan that utilizes objectives and goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time sensitive

● Monitors each clients’ recovery progress and works with clients to revise and update their plan as the recovery progresses

● Networks with other organizations to guide clients through sequence of delivery without duplication of benefits or services

● Advocates with and for clients through activities including but not limited to:

● preparing for and making case presentation on behalf of clients;

● actively participating in long-term recovery groups;

● providing support and advocacy with governmental and non-governmental agencies and organization when necessary

● Respects every client’s right to privacy, protecting each client’s confidential information

● Works in a respective, non-judgmental, and non-discriminatory manner

● Insures all necessary forms and releases are signed

● Maintains copies of all receipts in client files

● Keeps notes of all conversations with clients in their file

● Stays on top of community resources and refers clients as needed

● Completes closure with client including client satisfaction forms

● Knowledge of disaster recovery resources and eligibility criteria at the local, state, and federal levels

Education & Experience:

● High School Diploma or equivalent required

● Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in disaster case management

● Disaster training at the nationally accepted standard or be willing to be trained

● Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

● Essential functions require sufficient physical ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time and operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine motor coordination including use of a computer keyboard.

● Must have a reliable vehicle capable of traveling to remote locations in the Spokane region, including on rural gravel and dirt roads.

● The physical ability to safely navigate and move over uneven, steep, or rugged terrain in outdoor environments.

● Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and remote locations.

● Must have the ability to sit for extended periods while driving, working at a desk, or traveling by plane or vehicle.

● Flexibility to work longer than an eight-hour day during peak project times and adjust to variable schedules as needed.

● Must have reliable cell phone, PC or Laptop, remote internet, and ability to connect to the network via VPN connection.

● Frequently sit, stand, climb, walk, lift 25 lbs., pull/push 25 lbs., carry 25 lbs.; sufficient dexterity to grasp, reach, and stoop/crouch. Must have ability to speak, hear, and smell.

Travel Requirements:

● Must be willing and able to travel alone by vehicle for fieldwork, donor or partner meetings, and regional training.

● Willing to travel out of state by car or plane for occasional national or regional training.

● Must possess a valid driver’s license and either a valid passport or a travel-compliant license for out-of-state travel.

● Ability to maintain communication via a cell phone during travel and fieldwork.

Equipment/Tools as Applicable:

Duties of this position will require regular use of these types of machinery, equipment, and tools:

● Office equipment including copy machines, computer, and phone.

Environmental Conditions

While performing the essential responsibilities of this job, the employee may experience the following environmental conditions at the frequency indicated:

● exposed to loud noise from machinery on a consistent basis; exposed to noise consistent with a standard office environment.

● May be subject to heat, cold, wet, and/or humid weather conditions, and occasionally extreme heat and/or cold.

● Position requires working with standard office equipment – copy machine, computers, and phones.

● Typical office environment conditions; typical outdoor construction chemicals and conditions.
