The Dishwasher’s primary objective is to provide a clean and safe kitchen area for our community staff. The Dishwasher is responsible for the actual operation of the commercial dishwasher and the cleaning of all tableware, pots, pans and cooking equipment. The employee should be available to occasionally rotate to other dietary positions within the department when necessary.
- Monitor dish machine water temperature and detergent/sanitizer/chemical levels to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
- Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems to the Dining Services Director immediately.
- Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
- Properly wash, sanitize and store all tableware and kitchenware. Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
- Maintain appropriate level of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen.
- Restock all dishes, glassware, utensils, pots and pans.
- Break down, clean and sanitize the dish machine at the end of the shift.
- Bag and haul kitchen trash to designated area.
- Follow established reporting procedures for the following: supplies or equipment needs; any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair; any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment; any conditions conducive to breeding insects, rodents or other vermin.
- Comply and understand all OSHA-MSDS sheets and procedures and follow defined Infection Control procedures.
- Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
- Keep dish room and food preparation areas clan and organized as required.
- Report concerns or observations about residents to supervisor.
- Notify Lead/Director of malfunction of equipment or appliances.
- Operate kitchen appliances (dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer, mixer, etc.). Practice safety in working with and around kitchen equipment.
- Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, residents, families and visitors.
- Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community operations and personnel.
- Must maintain personal hygiene in accordance to OSHA regulations.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
- Able to understand and to follow written and verbal directions. Able to effectively communicate with staff members and residents through verbal and/or written means. Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities and complete duties/projects within allotted time.
- Demonstrates respect for co-workers and responds to needs of residents by complying with community policies on attendance, punctuality and dress code. Able to arrive and begin work on time and to report for duty as scheduled on all shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Attend all in-services, safety meetings, staff meetings and/or other meetings as called upon. Able to adjust work schedule according to the resident needs due to calendared events.
- Adaptability and flexibility in dealing with challenging or emergency situations, and ability to remain calm when dealing with residents and their family members, with a positive and pleasant manner and kind tone of voice.
