Dishwasher – Evening Shifts

Owen’s Bistro is a small, independent fine-dining restaurant in Chino seeking a dependable evening dishwasher to support our kitchen team Wednesday through Saturday.

This is an important kitchen position responsible for maintaining a clean, organized and steady flow of dishes, cookware, utensils and equipment throughout service. We are looking for someone who works with urgency, communicates when the dish area is becoming backed up and takes pride in leaving the dish station properly closed and ready for the next service.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operate the commercial dishwasher and three-compartment sink safely and correctly
• Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment
• Sort, organize and return clean items to their approved storage locations
• Maintain a steady dish flow throughout service and communicate backups promptly
• Keep the dish machine, sinks, racks, landing areas and surrounding work area clean and organized
• Empty assigned trash, cardboard and recycling and replace liners
• Sweep and mop assigned dish and kitchen floor areas at closing
• Follow approved chemical, sanitizer, food-safety and personal-protective-equipment procedures
• Complete assigned opening, closing and side-work cards
• Report broken equipment, unsafe conditions, missing supplies and sanitation concerns immediately
• Accept only clearly assigned and approved handoffs from the chef or manager

Kitchen Support and Growth

The primary responsibility of this position is dishwashing and sanitation. Light food preparation or line support may be assigned only when dish flow is under control and the employee has received proper training.

Employees with relevant kitchen experience may have opportunities to become certified in prep or line stations as business needs and demonstrated performance allow. Additional responsibilities will be clearly assigned rather than assumed.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Availability Wednesday through Saturday evenings, including closing
• A steady sense of urgency without sacrificing safety or sanitation
• Ability to stay organized in a busy, hot and wet kitchen environment
• Ability to follow written task cards and accept coaching
• Respectful communication and a team-oriented attitude
• Ability to stand for extended periods and repeatedly bend, reach and lift up to approximately 50 pounds
• Commercial restaurant dishwashing experience is preferred but not required for the right dependable candidate
• Food-handler certification or willingness to obtain required certification
