Dishwasher - Merwin's Wharf

The Dishwasher/Prep person is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. The incumbent also maintains a safe and clean work environment.

• Sorts and rinses dirty dishes, glass, tableware and other cooking utensils and places them in racks to send through dish machine.

• Sorts and stacks clean dishes. Carries clean dishes to cook's line and other proper storage areas. Rewashes soiled dishes before delivering.

• Changes dishwater in dish machine on routine basis.

• Washes pots, pans and trays by hand.

• Removes trash and garbage to dumpster.

• Sets up and breaks down dishwashing area.

• Performs other duties related to cleanliness of kitchen as assigned.

• Prepares food according to standardized recipes and assist in private events on and off site.

• Ensures compliance with applicable Health Department codes.

• Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.

• Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.

• Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.

Requirements:

• Prior dishwashing experience in a restaurant environment preferred.
• Must complete Serve-Safe program after hire.
• Ability to read and/or understand labels on chemicals.
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
• Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
