Job Summary
The Community Utility Associate performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of Community food services, facilities, and equipment. He/she is responsible for washing dishes, washing pots and pans , general and equipment cleaning, storage and rotation of food and supplies as well as the removal of all garbage; leaving machinery empty, clean, and dry; and keeping floors clean after each meal.
Responsibilities

Follows the posted work schedule and arrives on time and in appropriate work attire.

Responsible for the proper washing of china, flatware, glassware, and other kitchen equipment including machine rinse pressure and water temperature.

Responsible for maintaining the kitchen and other assigned areas in a sanitary condition.

Establishes and maintains constructive working relationships with other kitchen personnel and residents.

Must be familiar with food-handling procedures and regulations.

Must know how to operate kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine.

May be required to help with food preparation, inventory, and maintenance as well as food deliveries and stocking shelves.

Follow all emergency procedures.

Understands all safety practices and procedures.

Reports on-the-job injuries to the Community Cook and/or Food & Beverage Director before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.

Communicates effectively with Food & Beverage Director and other staff.

Advises Food & Beverage Director of any changes in physical or mental health of a resident immediately.

Maintains an acceptable attendance record, notifies Food & Beverage Director if he/she expects to be late or unable to work in accordance with personnel policies, and follows work schedule.
Qualifications

High School diploma preferred/ GED accepted.

Some kitchen experience is desirable.

Basic knife skills required.

Ability to handle multiple priorities.

Must have organizational and time management skills.

Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Physically able to bend and reach.
-
Physically able to push and pull and lift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary.

Physically able to stand for extended periods of time.
Miscellaneous

May be required to work weekends and holidays as assigned.

May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired.

May be required to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per day).

May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B and C viruses.

Could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset Residents due to mental status.

Must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases.

Background, criminal, and drug tests may be required.

May be asked to submit to random drug test during employment.

May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising.

May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents’ apartments.
