Overview
The Dispatch Manager is a non-supervisory role that plays a critical role in managing drivers, and maintaining the performance and uptime of our trucks and Smash equipment. This role combines administrative skills with hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, dispatch, and proactive field support.

Responsibilities
- Driver assistance & mentorship
- Help with hiring and training of new employees
- Serve as safety coach for the team and conduct at least one-hour monthly safety training
- Every two weeks, inspect truck parking locations and coordinate necessary maintenance
- Conduct monthly one-hour coaching and check-ins with drivers, covering maintenance and safety protocols
- Manage drivers, their expectations and routes on a day to day basis
- Operate the smash truck on an as needed basis
- On a typical week, this would be less than 15 hours per week
- On occasions when a driver is unavailable, act as a stand in driver
- Schedule work orders and ensure dispatch schedule is optimized
- Ensure trucks have ideal mileage and travel time per month
- Optimize routes for fuel and time efficiency
- Ensure minimal overtime
- Troubleshoot and assist with resolving mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in the field, including, but not limited to:
- Electrical wiring and relay issues
- Hydraulic pump and solenoid malfunctions
- Sprocket and chain maintenance, replacement, or repair
- Truck engine and chassis maintenance as appropriate
- Be the first — and ideally last — point of contact for truck repairs and recurring maintenance
- Ongoing service & maintenance
- Communicate with vendors and coordinate timely preventive maintenance and repairs
- Build and maintain relationships with trusted mechanics for timely support
- Schedule truck maintenance internally when possible and optimize repairs within budget
- Help reduce downtime and control maintenance costs
- Parts and Inventory management
- Use company credit card to source and purchase tools, parts, and materials as needed
- Order and track parts inventory and ensure availability of key spare parts
- Maintain accurate maintenance and troubleshooting records in Geotab
- Ensure Geotab is source of truth for all service records, including pricing
- All maintenance should be updated in Geotab
- All troubleshooting or service issues should be recorded in Geotab
- Ensure hauling is communicated accurately
- Ensure employees use the hauling app to update the haul status
- Communicate with the hauler on occasions to make sure dumpsters are hauled/swapped as necessary
- Customer management
- Meet or talk to customers about routes, schedules and hauls are scheduled properly
- Occasionally, meet them for invoices and billing

Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Mechanically inclined and experience with troubleshooting systems.
- Familiarity with freight dispatching, fleet management
- Valid California driver’s license
- 5+ years of commercial driving experience
- Strong working knowledge of truck’s mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to diagnose field issues and communicate clearly
- Willingness to travel for training as needed
- Capable of mentoring others and coordinating with mechanics
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Physically able to handle tools, parts, and equipment
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
