Dispatch & Asset Manager

Position Summary

The Asset Operations Manager owns the full lifecycle of our collection-bin fleet and the security program that protects it. This person makes sure every container is in the field, properly placed and tracked, collecting volume, and recovered quickly when it is moved or stolen. They sit at the center of placement, routing, maintenance, GPS/tracking, and theft recovery, coordinating daily with drivers, location managers, sales, and leadership. The role pairs hands-on operational coordination with data-driven performance management: using weekly collection data to decide which locations to keep, relocate, or prune.

Reports To

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Location & Schedule

Hoffman Estates, IL. Full-time. Primarily on-site/in-field with coordination across multiple metro markets. Some travel to bin locations and yards may be required.

Core Responsibilities

Bin Fleet & Routing

  • Activate new collection sites: log the location, activate the tracker/tag, and dispatch placement to the location manager and driver.
  • Confirm every placement on site with a photo and a verified working tag before the location is considered live.
  • Build and manage bin routes; ensure each route is completed and coordinate with drivers to resolve any field issues.
  • Maintain a real-time inventory of bins — available, deployed, broken, and in repair — and always keep every usable bin in the field unless it is being repaired or painted.
  • Decide which sites to deploy to, ensure bin coverage in needed areas, and review low-presence areas to get bins placed there.
  • Ensure bins are placed and removed on time per calls, contracts, and customer requests, and that placed bins look clean and presentable.

Bin Maintenance & Supplies

  • Run the bin maintenance program: coordinate repairs, painting, and refurbishment so bins are ready to redeploy.
  • Source and manage relationships with bin repair shops, decal suppliers, lock vendors, and new equipment suppliers.
  • Keep decals, locks, serial numbers, and bin-type records stocked and up to date for placed and removed bins.

GPS, Tracking & Security Program

  • Own the overall operations security program: install, maintain, and monitor GPS/trackers, cameras, and other security assets per company guidelines.
  • Keep trackers, cases, cameras, and security devices in stock against set thresholds; swap low-battery units and ensure all devices on site are charged and working.
  • Maintain accurate tracker/site records — site names, cities, and device swaps — and a current database of missing trackers and their outcomes.
  • Investigate moving or missing bins in real time; coordinate recovery and return of containers to their original locations.
  • Maintain a database of tow yards, scrap yards, and businesses that have taken bins; coordinate retrieval and pursue recovery.
  • Coordinate with sites for CCTV footage of thefts, work with police and insurance on missing-asset situations, and keep leadership updated.
  • Recognize and document theft trends; recommend added security measures (e.g., cameras, more secure bin types) and swap theft-prone bins for hardened models.

Performance Monitoring & Site Pruning

  • Track weekly collected pounds per location and review performance after a minimum 90-day evaluation period.
  • Apply the pruning rule: locations averaging below 50 lbs per week are flagged for relocation or removal, coordinated with the sales and leadership teams.
  • Continue monitoring locations that pass the threshold and re-evaluate each cycle.
  • Track shared sites and competitor sites and surface where coverage or security investment is needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years in logistics, route/fleet coordination, field operations, or asset management.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing many moving assets and locations at once.
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets, GPS/tracking platforms, and basic data review to drive decisions.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills across drivers, vendors, customers, and leadership.
  • Self-directed problem solver who can investigate issues and follow them to resolution.
  • Valid driver's license; able to travel to bin sites and yards as needed.

Preferred

  • Experience in recycling, waste, donation collection, or container/equipment fleets.
  • Familiarity with GPS asset trackers and theft-recovery / loss-prevention processes.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus for coordinating with field and driver teams.
