Full-Time | Operational Leadership Role

About the Role

Grid-Line Transportation is seeking a Dispatch & Planning Manager to lead execution inside our Dispatch & Planning department.

This role is responsible for enforcing structure, driving accountability, implementing workflows, and ensuring consistent KPI performance across the team.

We are not looking for a strategist or architect. We are looking for a strong operational leader who can take established workflows, turn them into clear SOPs, train the team, enforce standards, and hold people accountable to results.

Core Responsibilities

Department Leadership

  • Lead and manage dispatchers and planners
  • Set clear daily performance expectations
  • Conduct structured team huddles and performance reviews
  • Coach, correct, and develop team members
  • Hire and onboard new staff as needed
  • Step into operational duties when necessary to stabilize performance

Workflow & SOP Enforcement

  • Implement and enforce company workflows consistently
  • Convert workflow frameworks into clear, usable SOPs
  • Train staff on process adherence
  • Ensure standards are followed without exception
  • Prevent “workflow drift” and inconsistent execution

KPI Ownership & Performance Enforcement

  • Monitor department KPIs daily and weekly
  • Hold team members accountable to performance targets
  • Address underperformance immediately
  • Report KPI trends to executive leadership
  • Recommend execution-level improvements based on data

Cross-Department Coordination

  • Work closely with Sales, Safety, Accounting, and IT
  • Ensure accurate communication and information flow
  • Represent Dispatch & Planning in operational meetings
  • Maintain structured coordination between departments

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–8+ years of experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation operations
  • 2+ years of direct team management experience
  • Proven experience enforcing standards within an operations environment
  • Experience managing KPIs and performance metrics
  • Comfortable having direct performance conversations
  • Strong organizational and leadership presence
  • Calm and decisive under pressure
  • Comfortable working in a high-accountability environment
  • Flatbed or specialized freight experience preferred.

Authority

This role has full authority over day-to-day operational enforcement within the Dispatch & Planning department.

Compensation

  • $85,000 - $97,000 base salary (based on experience)
