Job Title: Outbound Call Agent (Trucking & Logistics)Job Summary
We are seeking a high-energy, resilient Outbound Call Agent to join our logistics team. In this role, you will be the primary voice of the company, proactively reaching out to either potential clients (shippers) to secure new business or to carriers to negotiate and book freight loads. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment where quick thinking and strong negotiation skills are the keys to success.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactive Outreach: Conduct 60+ outbound calls daily to prospective shippers, owner-operators, or carrier partners.
- Lead Generation: Research and identify new business opportunities through load boards (DAT, Truckstop), CRM databases, and cold outreach.
- Negotiation: Negotiate freight rates and contract terms to ensure maximum profitability while maintaining competitive pricing.
- Carrier/Client Retention: Build and maintain long-term relationships by providing exceptional service and consistent follow-ups.
- Load Matching: (If Dispatch-focused) Match available trucks with profitable loads to minimize "deadhead" miles and maximize fleet utilization.
- Data Management: Accurately update the Transportation Management System (TMS) and CRM with call notes, contact info, and shipment status.
- Problem Solving: Proactively call drivers or clients to resolve transit delays, equipment issues, or scheduling conflicts.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English; ability to "smile through the phone" and handle difficult personalities.
- Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of trucking terminology (FTL/LTL, Reefer, Flatbed, ELD, HOS).
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using a TMS or CRM (e.g., Salesforce, Hubspot).
- Resilience: High tolerance for rejection and the ability to stay motivated in a high-pressure, goal-oriented environment.
- Negotiation: Proven ability to persuade and close deals; prior experience in sales or collections is a plus.
- Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Business preferred.
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
- Call Volume: Average number of outbound calls per shift.
- Conversion Rate: Percentage of calls that lead to a booked load or a qualified lead.
- Profit Margin: Average margin maintained per load/contract.
- Customer Satisfaction: Ratings based on follow-up and reliability.
