Summary

The Dispatcher supports daily equipment and transportation operations for Miller Bros. Const., Inc. by coordinating equipment scheduling, transportation logistics, rental equipment, telematics systems, permitting, and fleet communication to support field operations safely and efficiently.

This role works closely with Project Managers, Foremen, Drivers, Vendors, and internal departments to ensure equipment availability, accurate tracking, and timely delivery of equipment and materials to jobsites. The Dispatcher plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency, supporting equipment utilization, and ensuring effective communication across multiple systems and teams.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing changing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and prioritize safety in all tasks, planning, and daily activities
  • Maintain professional communication with field personnel, vendors, drivers, and management
  • Coordinate equipment movement and transportation schedules
  • Support efficient utilization of company-owned and rental equipment
  • Ensure accurate equipment tracking and operational system updates
  • Maintain compliance with permitting and DOT requirements
  • Support telematics and asset tracking systems
  • Assist with reporting, scheduling, and operational planning activities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate equipment scheduling and dispatching for active construction projects
  • Receive and process equipment requests from Foremen and Project Managers
  • Create and maintain transportation schedules for drivers and equipment deliveries
  • Determine hauling permit requirements and secure applicable permits for oversized or specialized loads
  • Communicate delivery and pickup schedules with field personnel and drivers
  • Update Dispatcher, ECMS, Samsara, Clue, and other operational systems with current equipment and location information
  • Monitor geofence alerts and update equipment locations as necessary
  • Coordinate rental equipment procurement with vendors as needed
  • Process rental equipment setup information and support rental asset tracking
  • Review and approve rental equipment invoices and utilization data
  • Assist with evaluating rental versus purchase options for operational needs
  • Coordinate fuel vendor setup and fuel deliveries for projects and facilities
  • Monitor bulk fuel and DEF tank levels and arrange deliveries as needed
  • Maintain equipment utilization reporting and hour meter accuracy
  • Generate weekly utilization and idle-time reports for management review
  • Set up and maintain equipment and project information within telematics systems
  • Troubleshoot telematics reporting and hardware issues with vendors and field personnel
  • Coordinate new asset setup and deactivation within operational systems
  • Order and maintain equipment decals and numbering inventory
  • Support DOT electronic logbook compliance and auditing
  • Provide additional operational and administrative support as assigned

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience

  • 2–5 years of dispatching, logistics, transportation coordination, or equipment management experience preferred
  • Experience working with construction or heavy equipment operations preferred
  • Experience with telematics systems, dispatch software, or fleet management systems preferred
  • Experience with permits, routing, and transportation coordination preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced work environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational software systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Position is based in an office and yard environment at the MBC Equipment & Training Center
  • Requires frequent communication with field personnel, vendors, and drivers
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use computer systems regularly throughout the workday
  • Occasional outdoor work and exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Occasional extended hours may be required based on workload and operational needs
  • Exposure to typical office, shop, and yard conditions, including noise, dust, and vehicle traffic
  • Ability to safely navigate active construction, shop, and yard environments while complying with company safety policies and procedures
