Job Summary
The Communications Technician is responsible for receiving and relaying critical information to police, fire, EMS, and other emergency personnel. This role requires strong decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls
• Dispatch police, fire, and EMS personnel
• Monitor radio communications and emergency channels
• Maintain accurate logs and records
• Access TCIC/NCIC systems for information
• Coordinate with surrounding agencies

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and make sound decisions in stressful situations

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior dispatch or related experience (1+ year)
• Basic Telecommunicator Certification
• Knowledge of local geography

Schedule

• Full-time shifts
• Must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays
• Overtime as needed

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Background investigation
• Drug/alcohol screening
• Physical and/or psychological evaluation (if applicable)
