Dispatchers play a crucial role in connecting field staff, office, and customers through effective communication. They must remain alert and responsive to handle unexpected route changes or scheduling issues. Dispatchers must efficiently modify schedules as required to meet the ongoing demands of the company and ensure customer satisfaction.
Skills and Abilities
- Dispatcher requires 1-3 years or more of working experience, preferably in the service industry. (ex. Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing)
- Proficient with computer technology and able to learn about the city’s geographical location.
- Documentation skills, able to write job summaries in a concise and clear manner.
- Must have excellent customer service skills, be detail-oriented, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Active listening: listening to others, not interrupting, and asking good questions. Aptitude to logically evaluate situations, establish priorities, and quickly resolve issues. Quickly adapt to constant changes in schedules, routes, and job requirements.
- Establish collaborative relationships with individuals working in the field, managers, and office staff. This helps to create a positive and productive work environment.
- Physical Abilities: Able to work in an office environment and use office equipment: computer, laptop, printer, etc., and sit for prolonged periods of time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule and or reschedule calls to maximize opportunities by becoming familiar with technician’s levels, specialties, home addresses etc.
- Scheduling a high volume of phone calls and emails, service billing, creating and managing work orders, and daily technician times.
- It is important to maintain close communication with plumbing technicians to adjust schedules and allow enough time for successful job completion.
- Maintain professional and positive communication with plumbing technicians.
- Keep technicians informed of jobs sold, schedules, or job cancelations.
- Periodic communication with customers regarding updates or Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA)
