Dispatcher for Local CDL Drivers

Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dispatcher to coordinate and manage local CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) drivers within our transportation network. In this vital role, you will serve as the central communication hub, ensuring timely dispatching of freight and efficient routing of drivers. Duties

• Coordinate daily routes for local CDL drivers using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to optimize efficiency and delivery schedules
• Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track driver locations, traffic conditions, and route adjustments in real-time
• Communicate clearly with drivers via multi-line phone systems, ensuring they receive accurate instructions and updates throughout their shifts
• Manage freight shipments by scheduling pickups and deliveries, verifying shipping & receiving details, and maintaining accurate data entry records
• Utilize transportation planning tools to analyze logistics data, identify potential delays or issues, and implement solutions proactively
• Maintain detailed logs of dispatch activities, driver hours, freight status, and incident reports while adhering to safety and compliance standards
• Collaborate with warehouse teams on shipping & receiving schedules, fleet management, and 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) coordination to streamline operations

Experience

• Proven experience in dispatching for local CDL drivers or within a transportation management environment
• Strong knowledge of transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms
• Familiarity with GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and route optimization software
• Excellent communication skills with phone etiquette suited for high-volume multi-line phone systems
• Demonstrated analysis skills for logistics planning, freight tracking, and problem-solving within a supply chain context
• Proficiency in data entry using systems like AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning platforms such as SyteLine
• Experience with shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management practices, and 3PL coordination is highly desirable
• Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
