Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Dispatcher to join our team and coordinate the seamless movement of liquid bulk freight. In this vital role, you will be the central communication hub for drivers, clients, and operations staff, ensuring timely deliveries and optimal fleet utilization. Your expertise in transportation management systems and logistics will drive efficiency and safety across all dispatch activities.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily dispatch operations for liquid bulk freight using transportation management systems and GPS technology to optimize routes and schedules.
- Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems, maintaining clear and professional phone etiquette.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding shipment status.
- Monitor fleet movements through GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS tracking tools to ensure on-time deliveries and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage freight documentation, data entry, and shipping & receiving records accurately within systems like Truckmaster Transportation Management and Samsara.
- Track and report key performance indicators (on-time delivery, detention, utilization).
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to plan transportation routes, troubleshoot issues, and adjust plans as needed for efficiency.
- Resolve service issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, driver logs, and incident reports while ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
- Provide exceptional communication support to drivers and clients, fostering positive relationships through clear updates and problem-solving.
Skills
- Proficiency with GPS tracking (Samsara), transportation management systems (TMS).
- Strong understanding of supply chain logistics, transportation planning, fleet management, shipping & receiving procedures, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations.
- Excellent analysis skills for route optimization, freight scheduling, and data interpretation.
- Effective dispatching skills combined with professionalism in phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Ability to perform data entry accurately while managing multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Familiarity with transportation safety regulations and DOT compliance requirements.
- Strong typing skills along with attention to detail in recordkeeping related to freight movements.
