Position Summary
The Dispatcher plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of TranSouth's transportation services. This role involves managing, routing, and assigning trips, tracking vehicle maintenance and operational issues, and communicating effectively with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to providing safe and efficient service in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Trip Management: Assign and route trips efficiently to meet customer needs and minimize delays. Monitor trip progress to ensure timely pick-ups and drop-offs. Adjust trip assignments as necessary to accommodate last-minute changes or unexpected delays.

Communication & Coordination: Act as the central point of contact for drivers, customers, and dispatch staff. Provide drivers with clear and concise instructions for each assignment. Notify stakeholders of schedule or route changes, delays, or incidents, and escalate critical issues to management as needed.

Operational Monitoring: Use dispatching software to track vehicle locations and driver performance in real time. Ensure proper documentation of trip details, delays, and incidents. Monitor adherence to safety protocols and company policies.

Vehicle Maintenance Tracking: Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance schedules. Monitor and document vehicle issues, ensuring timely repairs and coordinating with the maintenance team to address safety concerns promptly.

Administrative Duties: Generate and review daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports. Assist with data entry and record-keeping related to trips, drivers, and vehicles. Maintain up-to-date contact information for drivers, customers, and service facilities.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation coordination preferred.

Strong organizational and time management abilities with the ability to multitask under pressure.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with dispatch and fleet management platforms (e.g., Samsara, CTS TripMaster, Route Genie) a plus.

Ability to work various shifts including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.
