Dispatch & Operations Manager (Service Industry – Waste Management & Field Services)

Full-Time | Scottsdale, AZ

We are a rapidly growing service-based, field operations company seeking a highly skilled Dispatch & Operations Manager who is ready to take ownership, lead, and grow with us. This role is ideal for someone who has real dispatching experience in a fast-paced service industry and wants a long-term leadership path.

The right person will oversee daily field operations including dumpsters, junk removal, portable toilets, and temporary fencing while coordinating our drivers, managing routes, supporting customers, and ensuring we deliver top-tier service every day.

Overview

The Dispatch & Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating all daily field services, optimizing schedules and routes, and ensuring smooth communication between drivers, customers, and the office team.

This role requires someone who can learn technology quickly, manage a high volume of moving parts, and remain calm and organized under pressure.

We are a family-owned Scottsdale company with major expansion ahead, and we want someone who is hungry to grow into upper management as we scale.

Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Dispatch & Field Operations

  • Schedule and dispatch daily dumpster deliveries, pickups, swaps, junk removal, portable toilet services, and temporary fencing installs
  • Plan driver routes using GPS/CRM tools to maximize efficiency and on-time service
  • Monitor field activity and adjust dispatching when needed (traffic delays, customer changes, emergencies)

Communication & Customer Support

  • Maintain constant communication with drivers to support smooth operations
  • Provide top-tier customer service and handle customer needs, updates, or problems professionally
  • Communicate clearly with contractors, homeowners, drivers, and vendors throughout the day
  • Build strong relationships with customers. This role requires someone who truly loves people and has excellent social skills

Systems & Data Management

  • Update job statuses and notes in our CRM/field service system
  • Maintain accurate dispatch and service records
  • Use GPS, mapping, and routing tools to improve efficiency
  • Analyze data from dispatch operations to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements
  • Think creatively and outside of the box when solving problems or planning routes

Logistics, Fleet & Operational Support

  • Coordinate with the office team to ensure inventory (dumpsters, toilets, fencing) is tracked and utilized properly
  • Support fleet logistics, including scheduling runs, monitoring equipment usage, and ensuring field-ready conditions
  • Assist with problem-solving in real time, finding solutions quickly and creatively

Leadership & Growth

  • Train new dispatchers or support staff as the team grows
  • Help build and refine dispatch processes and best practices
  • Play a key role in operational decisions and long-term planning
  • Become the central point of operational coordination as we scale across more cities and add more equipment

QualificationsRequired

  • Proven dispatching experience in a service-based, field-service, or logistics-focused industry

(Examples include waste management, towing, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, construction services, delivery services, courier/transportation operations, moving companies, restoration services, pest control, or any high-volume field-service dispatching role)

  • Strong communication skills, both with drivers in the field and customers on the phone
  • Ability to multitask, think quickly, and handle pressure without losing focus
  • Tech-savvy and able to learn new software and CRM systems quickly
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Problem-solver who stays calm and finds solutions fast
  • Reliable, accountable, and able to work independently

Preferred (Bonus Skills)

  • Experience with GPS routing tools, CRM/dispatch systems, or transportation management software
  • Understanding of fleet operations, scheduling, and logistics
  • Leadership experience or desire to move into management
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with Maricopa County cities and routes is a big advantage

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time position
  • Option for 50 hours per week if preferred or needed during peak workload periods
