Dispatcher/Operations Coordinator
Dakota County Lumber is a second-generation, family-owned business proudly serving the community since 1984. We supply high-quality lumber, windows, roofing, siding, millwork, and decking to professional contractors and homeowners across the Twin Cities.
Dakota County Lumber is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dispatcher/Operations Coordinator to support our delivery operations and help us achieve “The Perfect Delivery” every day. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership, and enjoys coordinating logistics to deliver an exceptional customer experience. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring deliveries are efficient, on time, and aligned with our commitment to service excellence.
What You’ll Do:
· Coordinate and dispatch delivery loads efficiently and accurately
· Ensure deliveries are completed On-Time and In-Full (OTIF)
· Manage daily schedules, routes, and workloads for drivers
· Communicate with drivers, yard teams, and customers to ensure smooth operations
· Monitor delivery progress and problem-solve issues in real time
· Support and enforce safety standards across delivery operations
· Continuously look for ways to improve delivery efficiency and service quality
What We’re Looking For:
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
· A proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership
· Comfort working with scheduling systems and general computer tools
· Experience in dispatching, logistics, or construction/lumber industry preferred but not required
What Success Looks Like:
· High OTIF (On-Time, In-Full) delivery performance
· Efficient use of routes and resources (journey value)
· Effective management of overtime hours
· Consistent, reliable execution of daily delivery plans
