Duties

• Assist patients in selecting and fitting eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other optical products based on their prescriptions and lifestyle needs
• Verify prescriptions and ensure accurate dispensing using optical equipment and laboratory experience
• Educate patients on lens options, frame styles, and proper eyewear maintenance while providing exceptional customer service
• Maintain detailed medical records, including vital signs, medical coding, and documentation compliant with HIPAA regulations
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to support patient care plans within EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms
• Conduct basic eye assessments such as visual acuity tests and assess anatomy knowledge to recommend appropriate solutions
• Manage retail sales transactions, perform retail math calculations, and maintain inventory levels efficiently
• Follow aseptic techniques during laboratory procedures to ensure safety and quality standards are met for all eyewear products

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Dispensing Optician or in optical retail management with strong optical experience
• Knowledge of ophthalmology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to eye care
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic medical record platforms
• Ability to perform vital signs assessments and understand medical billing processes related to eye care services
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to pediatric and senior care patients alike
• Experience working within clinic environments or healthcare settings that require HIPAA compliance
• Demonstrated retail sales skills combined with retail math proficiency for managing transactions effectively
• Laboratory experience and aseptic technique knowledge are highly desirable for maintaining product quality standards
