Distribution/Transportation Dispatcher

Duties

• Coordinate daily dispatch activities for freight movement using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
• Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure on-time deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, warehouse staff, and customers via multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
• Enter accurate data related to shipments, delivery schedules, and freight details into various systems including AS400 and transportation management platforms.
• Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with logistics procedures.
• Utilize analysis skills to troubleshoot delays or issues in transit, adjusting plans proactively for maximum efficiency.
• Collaborate with 3PL providers (third-party logistics) to coordinate freight movements and resolve any discrepancies or challenges.
• Support fleet management activities by tracking vehicle maintenance schedules and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Experience

• Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of supply chain processes, transportation planning, and logistics operations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally.
• Demonstrated analysis skills for troubleshooting issues related to freight, shipping & receiving, or fleet management.
• Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy using systems like AS400 or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of GPS, GIS technology, and transportation planning tools to enhance dispatch efficiency.
