District Administrator

The Berkshire Conservation District, a tax-exempt state entity, is seeking applications for a part-time District Administrator (DA). The ideal candidate will be an integral part of an evolving conservation group. The DA works closely with a Board of Supervisors and State officials. This position is funded by grants provided by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.

Responsibilities:

Clerical

  • Basic bookkeeping
  • Schedule monthly Supervisor meetings, monitor and reply to incoming communications
  • Utilize social media to promote District efforts
  • Maintain communications with public and state entities
  • Gain understanding of Massachusetts's Open Meeting Laws
  • Assist the District with financial documentation, treasury reports, and annual financial audits

Programs

  • Assist the board with planning and coordinating fundraising and educational workshops each year
  • Promote and assist with hosting workshops
  • Collaborate with local groups and services to expand the District’s audience
  • Manage grant funded programs

Grant Applications

  • Maintain a timeline of relevant grant applications and their due dates
  • Assist with grant application preparation with the District board

Skills Necessary

  • Proficiency in Google email, Drive, MailChimp, Word Press
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A background in environmental science, agriculture, and grant writing is preferred

Details

  • Part-time position with an average of 20 to 30 hours per week
  • Starting Pay: $20 per hour with the potential for a review after three months.
  • The District offers occasional professional development and flexible scheduling.
  • Applicant must have reliable access to transportation.
  • Applicant will be required to pass a background check before beginning work.
