Division / Department Manager - Painting

Refresh is seeking an experienced and strategic Division Manager for Painting Services to lead the transition of our painting division from subcontractor-based operations to fully employed crews. This role is responsible for building, training, and managing high-performing painting teams while working closely with leadership to develop and implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs). The Division Manager will oversee all aspects of the division, from workforce development and scheduling, to quality control and client satisfaction. Ensuring scalable growth and consistent delivery across our markets.

This is a leadership role for someone with deep experience in the trades, proven management ability, and a passion for building teams and systems from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leadership to design, document, and implement division-wide SOPs for all painting operations.
  • Build and lead employee painting crews, including recruiting, onboarding, and training team members.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and accountability to crew leaders and field staff.
  • Oversee scheduling, labor planning, and job assignments to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Implement and monitor quality control processes to maintain high standards across all jobs.
  • Manage material orders, inventory, and vendor relationships to support efficient operations.
  • Track KPIs for crew productivity, job profitability, and client satisfaction; report regularly to company leadership.
  • Develop systems for safety compliance, OSHA standards, and jobsite best practices.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for property managers on escalated issues, change orders, and client relationships.
  • Support the growth of the division by standardizing operations for future scaling into surrounding markets

Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of experience in the trades (painting preferred, but construction, remodeling, or related services acceptable).
  • 3+ years in a management or leadership role overseeing multiple crews or projects.
  • Strong background in operations management, SOP creation, and workforce development.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Solid financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, job costing, and division profitability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both internal teams and external clients.
  • Proficiency with scheduling, work order, or job management software (ServiceTitan, Jobber, etc. a plus).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
