$50-$60/hour | Teaching Role

We are a national DJ education program operating in 9 cities, including Austin, and are looking for a part-time DJ Instructor to teach beginner and intermediate students in a structured, in-person learning environment.

This is a teaching-focused role, not a performance or nightlife position. We provide the curriculum and students — instructors bring their expertise, professionalism, and equipment.

What You’ll Do

  • Teach 1-on-1 and small-group DJ lessons
  • Instruct students on DJ fundamentals (beatmatching, phrasing, EQ, transitions, library prep, etc.)
  • Follow a structured curriculum while adapting to student learning styles
  • Create a supportive, beginner-friendly learning environment
  • Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and clear communication

Requirements (Read Carefully)

  • Intermediate or higher DJ skill level
  • Must own Pioneer DJ equipment (controller or standalone) with a minimum value of $700
  • Comfortable using rekordbox
  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working with beginners
  • Currently enrolled in or graduated from a college/university (or equivalent verifiable background)
  • Able to pass a basic identity and background verification

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Prior teaching, tutoring, coaching, or mentoring experience
  • Experience DJing events, clubs, or private functions
  • Experience explaining technical concepts clearly to beginners

Compensation & Schedule

  • $50 per hour for first 6 months, then $60 per hour
  • Up to 10 hours per week; expect an average of 7 hours.
  • Fixed hours: 6:45pm to 9:15pm on Thursdays, 12:45pm to 7:15pm on Saturdays. (All courses occur within these hours, however you are not expected to show up when you do not have a class scheduled).
  • Consistent students provided — no marketing required.

Equipment Requirement

Instructors must provide their own Pioneer DJ equipment for teaching. This role does not provide gear.

How to Apply

Please include:

  • A brief description of your DJ background
  • The Pioneer DJ equipment you own (model)
  • Any teaching or mentoring experience (formal or informal)
  • Your general availability

Selected candidates will be invited to a short interview.

Why This Role

  • High hourly pay for a part-time teaching role
  • Structured curriculum and steady students
  • Ideal for DJs who enjoy mentoring and teaching
  • Professional, education-focused environment

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
