DME Billing Specialist/ DME Clerk

Overview

This position consists of assisting the DME department with daily operations in order to provide excellent customer service.

Job Description

Introduce yourself to the patient.

Be or become familiar with DME equipment and supplies.

Call health insurance for benefits on each patient that needs an equipment.

Prepare documentation on patient that will receive the equipment.

Explain insurance coverage to the patient.

Make proper documentation on patient’s chart.

Send out claims to the insurance.

Keep a log.

Take phone calls.

Requirements:

Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences required.

Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and Excel required. Possess ability to learn other software as needed. Previous experience with electronic medical record system preferred.

Must possess professional communication skills. Bilingual (English / Spanish)

Understanding of the confidentiality laws that govern the provider-patient relationship, including but not limited to HIPAA guidelines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
