Job Title: Dockhand – Volunteer Landing Marina

Location: Volunteer Landing Marina Position: Part-time (Seasonal)

Shift Availability: Weekend availability required

Position Overview

Volunteer Landing Marina is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Dockhand to join our team! As a Dockhand, you will play a key role in maintaining a superior dock environment, providing top-tier customer service to boaters, and supporting various tasks around the marina. In addition to dock duties, the position will involve assisting with maintenance tasks, handling boat rental reservations, operating a POS system for retail sales, and performing marina services to ensure an exceptional experience for all guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Dock Maintenance & Appearance: Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming dock environment, ensuring all dock areas are free of debris and in top condition.
• Customer Service: Greet and assist boaters with excellent customer service, providing a friendly and helpful experience. Assist with boat dockage, fueling, and general marina services.
• Boat Rentals & Reservations: Manage and fulfill boat rental reservations, ensuring all boats are properly prepared for guest use. Provide recommendations and instructions for boat operation.
• POS System Operation: Accurately process sales transactions, merchandise sales, boat rentals, and marina services using the marina’s POS system. Handle cash and card payments efficiently.
• Vessel Operation: Safely operate a variety of vessels to assist guests with docking, boat rentals, and marina-related tasks. (Training will be provided)
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the marina team to support operations, including assisting with maintenance, boat servicing, and ensuring smooth daily operations. Be willing to take on various roles as needed.
• Weekend Availability: Must be available to work weekends, including holidays, as part of the marina's busiest times.
  
  

Qualifications

• Customer-Focused: Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
• Team Player: Ability to work well with others, collaborating across departments, and supporting co-workers as needed.
• Marina Knowledge: Previous experience in a marina or similar environment preferred but not required.
• Boat Handling: Ability to safely operate boats and assist guests with basic boating needs preferred.
• POS System Knowledge: Experience using POS systems or willingness to quickly learn new systems.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment as needed, as well as stand for extended periods.
• Weekend Availability: Must be available to work during peak weekend hours.
