Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Doctrine Editor to join our dynamic team in supporting the Department of War. In this role, you will provide editorial support for U.S. Army doctrinal publications and assist in the development, review, formatting, and staffing of Army doctrine products including Army Doctrine Publications (ADPs), Field Manuals (FMs), and Army Techniques Publications (ATPs).

The ideal candidate will possess strong writing, editing, formatting, and doctrinal analysis skills and have recent experience working with Army doctrinal publications and doctrine development processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit doctrinal publications for grammar, formatting, readability, consistency, and compliance with Army doctrine publishing standards.
  • Review and analyze doctrinal content to ensure compatibility with Army capstone and keystone doctrinal publications.
  • Utilize Army doctrine templates and publishing guidance in accordance with TR 25-36, TR 25-30, TP 25-40, DA PAM 25-40, and AR 25-30.
  • Assist in the staffing and adjudication process for doctrinal publications undergoing Worldwide Staffing (WWS).
  • Review figures, tables, graphics, references, glossary entries, and supporting documentation for accuracy and integration with doctrinal content.
  • Maintain document version control and configuration management procedures.
  • Support Government editors during Doctrine Developer Courses (DDC) by assisting with instruction related to doctrine templates, formatting, grammar, and writing standards.
  • Assist in reviewing doctrinal terminology for compliance with FM 1-02.1 and current Army doctrinal standards.
  • Coordinate with doctrine developers, authors, and Government personnel to support timely completion of doctrinal products.
  • Utilize Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and other electronic publishing tools to edit and prepare final publication products.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in English, History, Technical Writing, Journalism, or a related field. OR: Bachelor’s degree in English, History, Technical Writing, Journalism, or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience editing U.S. Army doctrine publications.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in college-level writing, history, technical writing, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated recent experience utilizing and editing published Army doctrinal publications.
  • Strong understanding of Army doctrine development and publication processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Microsoft Office Word Level 3 Certification required.
  • Microsoft Office 365 Level 1 proficiency required.
  • Strong command of Formal Standard English, grammar, and technical writing standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines.
  • Prior experience supporting TRADOC, Combined Arms Center (CAC), or doctrine development organizations.
  • Experience with Army doctrine staffing and adjudication processes.
  • Familiarity with Joint doctrine terminology and doctrine hierarchy concepts.
  • Experience supporting instructional environments or professional military education programs.
  • Must be able to maintain security clearance eligibility throughout contract performance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
