Documentation Engineer

We are seeking a Documentation Engineer specializing in engineering and manufacturing documentation to support product development, production processes, and compliance requirements. This role ensures that technical information—ranging from design specifications to manufacturing instructions—is accurate, accessible, and aligned with internal quality standards and regulatory expectations.

The ideal candidate has strong technical aptitude, hands-on experience working with engineering teams, and deep familiarity with manufacturing workflows.

Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Documentation

• Create, revise, and maintain engineering documents including:
• Product design specifications and technical data sheets
• Engineering change documentation (ECRs/ECNs)
• System and subsystem architecture descriptions
• CAD model documentation and drawing annotations
• Partner with design engineers to ensure documentation accurately reflects product designs and updates.

Manufacturing Documentation

• Develop and maintain manufacturing-related documents such as:
• Work instructions (WI), standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Assembly instructions, test procedures, and process sheets
• Bill of Materials (BOMs) documentation and version tracking
• Quality inspection procedures and manufacturing control plans
• Support manufacturing teams by clarifying processes, documenting best practices, and ensuring consistency across production lines.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure documentation adheres to internal standards and external regulations (ISO 9001, AS9100, FDA, OSHA, or industry-specific standards).
• Work with Quality Assurance to maintain proper document control, revisions, and approvals.
• Participate in audits and provide documentation-related support.

Collaboration & Review

• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to gather accurate and complete information.
• Participate in engineering design reviews, PFMEA/DFMEA sessions, and process improvement discussions.
• Conduct peer reviews for content accuracy and clarity.

Tools & Systems

• Maintain documentation within PLM/MRP/ERP systems (e.g., Arena, Windchill, SolidWorks PDM, SAP, Oracle).
• Use authoring and visualization tools such as:
• Microsoft Office, Google Workspace
• Visio, Draw.io, Lucidchart, or similar diagramming tools
• CAD viewers or engineering visualization tools
• Implement improvements to document templates, workflows, and traceability practices.

QualificationsRequired

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, Technical Communications, or a related field.
• Experience producing engineering and/or manufacturing documentation.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, production workflows, or assembly environments.
• Strong understanding of version control, document revision practices, and configuration management.
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.

Preferred

• Experience with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., Windchill, SolidWorks PDM, Siemens Teamcenter).
• Exposure to manufacturing environments such as machining, assembly, electronics manufacturing, or fabrication.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or process optimization principles.
• Experience creating technical diagrams, process flows, or manufacturing illustrations.
• Understanding of regulatory/compliance requirements (ISO 9001, AS9100, ITAR, etc.)
