Dori Tails is an up-and-coming professional dog walking and pet-sitting company, and we're seeking responsible, kind, and detail-oriented individuals to join our growing team of Dog Walkers and Pet Sitters. We serve the Northeast Chicago neighborhoods of Rogers Park and West Ridge, as well as the City of Evanston, Illinois.

  • Are self-starters able to work independently and responsibly.
  • Enjoy dog-walking outside in all four seasons and the weather that comes with them! (Rain, snow, heat, cold, wind...)
  • Can make at least a 6-month commitment to working with us. We view this position as long-term supplemental income, not temporary or seasonal.


Days:
Mon, Tue, and/or Wed, plus occasional visits on weekends

Hours: 10am-3pm, plus occasional visits outside of these hours

Pay: $16.60/hr base pay (W2) plus tips and bonus opportunities, mileage, cellphone allowance, and paid training


Please note:
This is a very part-time job. After onboarding and training are complete, you can work up to 20 hours per week. Work assigned will be based on staffing levels, performance, and client demand.


Responsibilities:


  • Follow client instructions and company-provided training to provide compassionate pet care to pets of all ages, sizes and species.
  • All pets: give food/water/treats, administer medications, provide positive encouragement and attention, provide interaction/enrichment, monitor for health issues, other minor tasks.
  • Dogs: prepare for outside using appropriate gear (leash, harness, etc.), provide safe public walks (or potty breaks), give treats and refill water bowls, wipe wet/muddy paws after outdoor activities.
  • Cats, pocket pets, exotic pets: scooping/spot-cleaning/deep-cleaning litterboxes and/or enclosures.
  • Clean up after pets outside, and inside the homes if there are accidents.
  • Take photos of pets during walks/visits and provide post-visit reports to clients using our mobile app.


Requirements:

  • You MUST pass a criminal/background check.
  • You are age 18+ and have U.S. work authorization.
  • You MUST have a car and live within 20 minutes of our service area by vehicle.
  • You don't have to have any professional animal work experience, but we find it helpful if you've had pets of your own before.
  • You can work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s (don’t worry - you’ll be able to have a holiday too, and you’ll be paid more per visit during this time).
  • You have a smartphone (iPhone or Android) with a working camera and an "unlimited" data plan.
  • You can work in all weather conditions and walk several hours per day.
  • You have strong communication and time management skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • You can lift up to 50 lbs and you are capable of moderate-intensity outdoor activity, including walking 1-4 miles and up/down stairs, in all weather conditions.

Salary

$16.6 - $18.71 per hour
