Job Summary

Puptown Girl Pet Care is hiring a dog walker and pet sitter in Central Oregon. We service Bend, and looking particularly for those who could be open to traveling to Redmond, Sisters and Sunriver.

About us - Liz (owner) and a small team of walkers and sitters: we are dedicated to quality pet care, specializing in solo leashed dog walks in neighborhoods, drop-in visits for dogs and cats, overnight pet care in clients homes and farmsitting for horse, goats, chickens and more!

Puptown Girl Pet Care is all about humane & ethical pet care, forming awesome client-relationships and helping owners and their pets live their best lives. We are all about force-free, positive reinforcement animal-human communication and handling. We do not use prong or shock collars in any of our work and would love to bring someone on board with these ethics.

About the position

-- 2-3 days a week, back-to-back walks, starting at about $100 / week with room to add more walks and lots of opportunity for overnight petsitting and farmsitting.

Part-time at first with the the opportunity to increase hours!

--Overnight petsitting starting at $80/night is an option on top of dog walking
-- This is an independent contractor position
-- This job also requires a valid license, a reliable phone, your own vehicle and the ability to drive back and forth to client's homes in different neighborhoods in Bend
-- The schedule is laid out 1 month in advance with clients and employees, however there are client who request last minute (week-of, day-of) help and would be amazing to have someone with the flexibility to accommodate this as well.
-- We are specifically looking for someone with knowledge of reactivity or fear in dogs, including mechanics for managing and helping dogs through this behavior while coming across triggers on walks. Confidence is a plus!

Duties

  • Walk dogs of various sizes and temperaments in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Ensure dogs are properly leashed and restrained during walks.
  • Monitor the behavior and health of dogs, reporting any concerns to pet owners.
  • Provide basic training commands to reinforce good behavior during walks.
  • Maintain a clean environment by picking up after dogs.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their dog's behavior and needs.
  • Assist with additional pet care tasks as needed, including feeding or administering medication.
  • If pet sitting; staying overnight in client's home and possibly stopping back in middle of the day for walk/visit, cleanliness in client's homes, keeping with dog's home schedule, routine, etc.

Experience

  • Previous experience in animal care or handling is preferred, including roles such as pet sitting or kennel work.
  • Skills in animal restraint and handling are essential for ensuring safety during walks.
  • Familiarity with dog training techniques is a plus, enhancing the walking experience for both the dog and handler.
  • Knowledge of reactivity or fear in dogs is a plus, including mechanics for managing and helping dogs through this behavior while coming across triggers on walks

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour
