Domestic Violence Director

Job Description:

The Domestic Violence Director provides supportive services to all program clients, children and/or families who are impacted by any type of domestic violence. The Domestic Violence Director is responsible for the coordination and strengthening of the Tribal Criminal Justice System response to end violence against Native American Women. This Domestic Violence Director also provides advocacy, education, and crisis intervention for victims of any type of domestic violence. The Domestic Violence Director is responsible for providing crisis response, risk assessments, shelter admissions, and safety planning for victims. The Director will also ensure that the shelter and services provided to the victims is therapeutic, maintaining a family-like atmosphere, and supportive of the victim/family as they work to heal and regain self-sufficiency and empowerment. The Domestic Violence Director provides oversight of all domestic violence staff to ensure that domestic violence staff correctly and confidentially provide identified services to all clients, children and/or families of Domestic Violence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide legal services to clients including but not limited to: domestic violence, sexual assault, and domestic violence intervention.

· Ensure that the domestic violence department correctly and timely seeks, identifies, and supports clients, children, and families who are in need of their service; while also conducting all necessary risk assessments and safety plans with identified victims.

· Provides oversight and support to all domestic violence department staff.

· Know, follow, model, and communicate all Domestic Violence employee policies and procedures, grant requirements, crisis intervention protocols, client interaction procedures, documentation procedures, confidentiality policies, and all applicable laws.

· Ensures the implementation of all domestic violence programs target goals and transition plans.

· Helps resolve conflict and assists clients, children, and families to understand domestic violence department, limitation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.

· Ability to ensure appropriate boundaries are enforced with clients in all circumstances.

· Participate as needed in the hiring process of staff by approvals, signatures and providing professional input to ensure the best for the domestic violence department, its clients, children, and families.

· Ensures domestic violence department accurately and timely dissemination information into the community and local school awareness events by ensuring the planning, creating, and developing of all components of community and school education and awareness for the tribal youth programs, tribal members, and the surrounding community.

· Traveling and transporting victims to services and shelter as needed.

· Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications:· Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and the principles and practices of domestic violence.

· Be of good moral character and have good physical and emotional health.

· Ability to effectively plan, supervise, and coordinate the work of others.

· Ability to act professionally and efficiently in all situations including a crisis situation.

· Extensive knowledge of the principles / practices of budgeting as it relates to program management.

· Ability to learn, be non-judgmental and work well with others in a team environment.

· Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

· Ability to work supportively with employees, elected officials, clients, agencies, the public.

· Agree to follow all policies and procedures and maintain a Drug-free workplace / shelter.

· Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems, such as word processing, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms, and workplace and DV terminology.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
