We’re a small to mid-sized commercial general contractor based in Johnson City, TN, focused on delivering high-quality construction projects within about an hour of our home base. We’re seeking a skilled Drafter/Architect to join our design and preconstruction team at our home office. This position plays a key role in bringing our clients’ visions to life through accurate, detailed plans that support efficient and successful construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed construction drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections, and details using AutoCAD, Revit, and compatible software.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to ensure plans are constructible, code-compliant, and aligned with project goals.
- Support design development for commercial projects, including site layouts, building design, and tenant improvements.
- Assist in coordinating with engineers, consultants, and subcontractors as needed.
- Maintain and organize drawing sets, revisions, and document control.
- Participate in preconstruction and design meetings to contribute technical and design insight.
- Ensure that all work complies with local codes, standards, and company procedures.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Drafting & Design, Construction Technology, or related field.
- 2–5 years of drafting or architectural design experience (commercial construction experience preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit required; experience with other 3D modeling or rendering tools is a plus.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, building systems, and materials.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work on schedule.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills; comfortable collaborating across departments.
