Job Summary
The Draftsman (CAD & Revit) is responsible for preparing accurate, coordinated, and compliant technical drawings and BIM models based on design inputs from engineers and project requirements. The role supports the engineering team in developing shop drawings, as-built drawings, and coordination models in accordance with project specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Technical Drafting & Modeling
- Prepare 2D drawings using AutoCAD in accordance with project specifications and standards.
- Develop 3D BIM models using Revit (Architecture / Structure / MEP as applicable).
- Produce shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Extract plans, sections, elevations, and schedules from Revit models.
- Update drawings based on engineer comments, RFIs, and design revisions.
2. Coordination & Compliance
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and civil teams to ensure clash-free and integrated drawings.
- Review contract drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance before drafting.
- Assist in resolving technical discrepancies and coordination issues.
- Ensure drawings comply with client, consultant, and authority requirements.
3. Documentation & Quality Control
- Maintain proper file naming, version control, and document management standards.
- Ensure all drawings are submitted with correct revisions and references.
- Support preparation of submission packages for consultant and government approval.
- Follow company QA/QC procedures in all drafting outputs.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil / Architectural) or relevant technical field.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in drafting and BIM modeling (depending on project scale).
- Experience in infrastructure / building projects preferred (Government / USACE / NAVFAC experience is an advantage).
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Good working knowledge of Revit (BIM Modeling).
- Understanding of shop drawing preparation process.
- Familiarity with clash detection tools (e.g., Navisworks is an advantage).
- Knowledge of engineering standards and construction detailing.
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple revisions.
