Drainage Designer/EIT-2

We are currently seeking resumes from qualified, responsible, self-sufficient, energetic Drainage Designer/EIT-2’s for our Phoenix, Arizona office. Job Description
:

Use advanced knowledge obtained through higher education to exercise independent judgment in developing and completing designs and contract documents. Design municipal and state projects for streets/highways/freeways involving roadway, drainage, utilities, and traffic engineering. Ability to function as a project engineer and understand all aspects of design and plan production. Duties may also include management and marketing. Preparation and checking of design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and project plans.

Self-motivated, technically proficient, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and is team-oriented. Travel periodically within Arizona and neighboring states, while being physically capable of performing fieldwork.


Primary Job Duties:

  • Review and interpretation of hydrology and hydraulic reports
  • Review, interpretation, and understanding of design codes
  • Development of hydrology and hydraulic models
  • Using available open-source software and tools to perform geographic information analysis
  • Establish and maintain schedules and offer progress reports on work performed, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings, resources, and presentations


Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of civil experience or related field, while having an Engineer-in-Training (EIT); OR a minimum of five (5) years of civil experience or related field, including a post-graduate degree and registration with the Spanish Civil Engineer Association or an equivalently recognized international registration/chartering.
  • Ability to test and pass the PE exam within a year of starting with the company or have passed the PE exam.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation/Openroads.
  • Project Wise experience is a plus.
  • InRoads and Civil 3D experience a plus.
  • Experience using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, QGIS, and Python a plus.
  • Must have solid skills in the following areas: planning and scheduling; organization; problem-solving; and decision-making.
  • Have familiarity with roadway design guidelines and codes.
  • Experience with design calculations, preparation of quantities and cost estimates, preparation of special provisions, and preparation of project plans is desired.
  • Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier.


Working Conditions and Environment:

This position will require general supervision and will have to use independent judgment within established guidelines. Generally, uses the advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret, or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances. Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project, and be able to promote a positive team environment. Working knowledge of dealing with a diverse population while using tact, diplomacy, and respect.
