Summary

We are looking to appoint a Driver to join the team at Lancashire Saws to carry out daily delivery runs, primarily to customers across Northern England and South West Scotland.

You will primarily drive a panel van for deliveries and collections; however, towing a 6m tri-axel curtain trailer will be required as part of the role (not all runs will involve towing). You will attend compulsory trailer towing training for both those experienced and inexperienced in towing a trailer, along with a driver assessment course.

When not out on the road, you will also be expected to assist with duties within the factory as required, including the safe handling and movement of saw blades.

The successful candidate will hold a CPC licence and a digital tachograph card. Applicants must have a flexible approach, with the ability to work as part of a team and operate individually. A commitment to safe working practices is essential.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Safely transporting and handling saws blades
  • Complete daily defect inspections as per current law
  • Reporting any vehicle defects to the site manager
  • Maintain the service and appearance of the vehicle, both externally and internally
  • Follow all Company Operational Procedures and QC Standards
  • To retain all driving records required by law
  • Follow delivery/pickup instructions from the despatch note
  • Ensure vehicles are loaded in a safe and secure manner
  • Complying with the requirements of Legislation and Operating Procedures relating to Drivers Hours
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported and assist in the investigation where necessary
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the site manager

Skills and Experience:

  • Must hold a valid Driver's Licence Category C1E
  • Must have experience of towing trailers
  • Ability to safely handle and move saw blades
  • A clean licence is preferred; however, we will accept candidates with a maximum of 3 points on their licence

The following Skills and Experience would be an advantage:

  • Counterbalance forklift truck licence
  • Experience in a similar role

Qualifications:

  • CPC Licence and Digital tachograph
  • Class C1E driving licence

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £12.93 to £14.47 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 39 per week
