Driver manager/ Logistics coordinator

United Express, a growing LTL transportation provider, is a team-oriented company that provides the best service in our industry. We are a family operated floor covering specialist in distribution, transportation, and warehousing throughout Southern California since 1987. Our staff must have strong work ethic a positive attitude and can thrive in a sometimes fast-paced team environment until the job is done.

We operate a small fleet of trucks, distributing flooring materials— rolled goods such as carpet & vinyl as well as tile, wood, and sundries throughout Southern California. This position has a broad range of responsibilities that help facilitate the continuing flow of production through out the company. We are a nearly 24 hour expediting operation that is at times fast-paced and challenging.

Duties:

  • Main duties will include management of the dispatch process, coordination of freight, transportation personnel, responsibility for efficient and timely delivery of materials, and helping with resolving customer delivery issues.
  • Responsible for the management of 11-13 truck drivers. This is a key leadership position where manager must convey the culture to the crew and be a creative team player who likes to work hard, have fun, and show dedication to the crew.
  • Build great rapport with fleet and associates.
  • Work closely with all departments, i.e. Warehouse, Management, Safety, Customer Care, and Human Resources.
  • Coordinate and manage the logistics operations, including dispatching and tracking of shipments.
  • Help manage, write, implement, monitor, and enforce driver policies.
  • Learn and understand the floorcovering load planning process.
  • Move equipment and deliver freight locally when needed.
  • Operate forklift to load and offload when needed.
  • Communicate with with fleet mechanic and equipment leasing companies in regards to maintenance, rentals, interims, PM's and repairs needed.
  • Hire, train, counsel, evaluate, lead and support team of drivers.
  • Manage and maintain driver files according to DOT/FMCSA standards.
  • Make phone calls daily to customers and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned some Saturdays and Sundays as needed

Qualifications:

- 4 years commercial driving experience preferred ( Class A preferred)
-Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols
-Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 70 lbs.
-High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to multitask and work under pressure
- Proven experience in management of logistics coordination or related field.
- Strong knowledge of dispatching procedures and logistics operations.
- Mechanical knowledge to understand equipment requirements for transportation.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong understanding of materials management principles and practices.
-Bi Lingual preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $71,000.00 - $81,000.00 per year
