Overview

We are hiring a Driver Manager to take full operational control of a group of OTR drivers based out of our newly opened Indianapolis terminal.

This is not a basic dispatch or customer service role.

You will be responsible for real-time execution of loads, driver performance, and fleet utilization, working directly with planners and operations leadership to maximize miles, revenue, and service performance.

Your performance directly impacts:

• Revenue per truck
• Miles per week
• Driver retention
• Operational efficiency

Key Responsibilities

1. Load Execution & Dispatch Control

• Review load feasibility based on HOS, pickup/delivery times, and driver availability
• Dispatch loads using McLeod TMS
• Track loads in real time and actively manage delays and issues
• Ensure PODs are submitted accurately within required timelines

2. Driver Performance Management

• Manage 15–25 OTR drivers (growing fleet)
• Enforce weekly targets:
• 2,800+ miles per week per driver
• Conduct weekly performance reviews (miles, fuel efficiency, compliance)
• Maintain strict communication and accountability with drivers

3. Operational Coordination

• Work closely with load planners to:
• Minimize downtime between loads
• Improve truck utilization
• Ensure drivers are positioned correctly for next assignments
• Act as the control point between drivers and operations

4. Breakdown & Issue Resolution

• Handle real-time operational issues:
• Breakdowns
• Trailer swaps
• Service failures
• Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams
• Ensure system updates and driver continuity

5. Home Time & Capacity Planning

• Manage driver home time (PTA scheduling)
• Confirm availability and pre-assign loads before return
• Prevent gaps in truck utilization

6. Detention & Revenue Protection

• Monitor detention events in real time
• Notify brokers/customers during delays
• Ensure proper documentation and approvals
• Protect and recover accessorial revenue

7. Administrative & Compliance Control

• Track driver licenses, medical cards, and compliance deadlines
• Manage settlements and adjustments
• Ensure accurate documentation (BOLs, receipts, logs)

Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

• Experience in:
• OTR trucking operations, driver management, or dispatch
• Strong understanding of:
• Hours of Service (HOS)
• Load planning and execution
• Ability to manage multiple drivers simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Bilingual: English / Spanish (required)

Preferred Experience

• Experience with McLeod TMS or similar system
• Background in high-volume OTR fleet operations
• Experience managing driver performance metrics

This Role Is NOT For

• Entry-level dispatchers
• Customer service representatives
• Warehouse or non-trucking operations backgrounds
• Candidates without OTR driver management experience

Compensation

$60,000 – $65,000 base salary

• Fast-paced, high-volume trucking operation

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
